Dan’s Floor Store has found that it is much more efficient to sand, stain, and finish stair treads prior to installing them. After sanding the individual stair treads, our crew achieved the matching stained look on the Red Oak stair treads with a double stain process. We used quality Minwax stains :
- the first stain was Red Mahogany
- the second (top) stain was Honey
Then our crew finished each stair tread with 3 coats of durable Pallmann waterborne Power finish, ultra matte for long lasting protection. Pallmann is a German made finish, from a company that has been in business since 1904!
The stair rail was sanded, stained, and finished to match the stair treads and the wood flooring.
Then our crew installed the finished matching stained stair treads and rail.

French Oak Wood Flooring Installation and Stair Treads to Match in Vilano Beach

Our client chose 8″ wide engineered French Oak wood flooring; Galano from the Villa Borghese collection by Bella Cera for this project.
Our crew did a lot of prep work on the plywood subfloor, i.e., sand off paint overspray and sanding down unlevel plywood seams.
We used flooring straps when installing the French Oak wood flooring, because of the width of the flooring planks.
Our crew sanded, stained, and finished the individual stair treads to match the new French Oak wood flooring, prior to installing them. We have found that working on the stair treads prior to installing them is much more efficient. Prior to installation is preferred to doing the stair tread work in place.

Sand and Finish Red Oak Wood Flooring – Ponte Vedra Beach

Someone had previously applied stain over the top of the engineered, rotary peeled Red Oak wood flooring in the home. The new owners thought the flooring looked really hideous, and they called Dan the Floor Man to come rescue them. After our consultation, the owners contracted our Store to sand, stain, and refinish their engineered Red Oak wood flooring.

Our crew started by sanding the engineered Red Oak wood flooring down to bare wood (as can be seen in the following photos).
Then we applied Bona Graphite stain. The transformation was beautiful!
After the stain was applied our crew applied three coats of Pallmann power ultra matte waterborne finish. This sand, stain, and finish job turned out exquisite!

Installing Wide White Oak Flooring for Fernandina Beach Yoga Studio
/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminA lady in Fernandina Beach called Dan’s Floor Store because the bamboo flooring in her Yoga Studio was failing. Solid bamboo wood flooring is nothing but a problem flooring for Florida!
First our crew removed all of the bamboo flooring.
Next. we had to do a massive amount of leveling! The concrete slab subfloor was covered in dips. The subfloors on all jobs done by Dan’s Floor Store must be leveled prior to flooring installation, to guarantee a strong bond to subfloor and a solid sounding floor versus a hollow floor sound!
Our crew installed a beautiful European wide White Oak flooring from the BELROSE collection by Azur Reserve.
The oak planks are 9 1/2” wide x 5/8” thick, with a 4mm sawn face; it is an absolutely stunning wood floor product! We used Bostik’s GreenForce adhesive for the installation. We have confidence in this proven no VOC adhesive, which includes an effective moisture barrier membrane. Because these are wider wood planks, we used special flooring straps to hold the planks in place during installation. Then our Dan’s Floor Store crew finished the job by installing vinyl baseboards.
Needless to say our client was thrilled with the outcome of her new White Oak wood flooring for her yoga studio! And Dan’s Floor Store always likes to have happy clients!

Sand and Finish Solid Red Oak Flooring in St. Augustine, FL

The wood flooring may have been purchased through our Store, from one of our many vendors, or may be provided by the clients. We also sand and finish wood floors that have been installed by other contractors. And, staining the floors for a different look may be part of the process, depending on our clients’ preference.
This project took place in what we believe to be the prettiest street in St. Augustine, and in one of the coolest homes on that street.
On this project, another contractor had installed 940 square feet of solid Red Oak wood flooring, which had been provided by the homeowner.
We sanded the solid Red Oak wood flooring to prepare it for finishing. The homeowner liked the natural look of the wood, so we did not apply any stain.
Our crew applied a coat of Bona oil-modified sealer.
Before we can apply the finish to these wood floors, cabinets have to be installed and several more phases of this home improvement project need to be completed. Then our crew will come back and apply two final coats of Bona oil-modified polyurethane satin finish.

Refinishing Rotary Peeled Red Oak Flooring in Ponte Vedra Beach

Installing French/German White Oak Flooring in Ponte Vedra Beach

As can be seen in the following photos, we did a massive amount of leveling on the concrete slab subfloor prior to this wood flooring installation.
Our crew used Bostik Pro Cure adhesive to accomplish the French/German White Oak flooring installation.
We finished this flooring project out with shoe molding to match the baseboard. A hallway was installed on the diagonal, for added visual effect. And our crew also sanded, stained and refinished the lower existing stair tread to match the new wood flooring.
