A previous client had us come install a custom weave-in to an area of their solid 
white oak floor, and then refinish some additional wood flooring, in their charming home in the Deerwood Country Club community of Jacksonville, Florida.
This project involved not only installing new Solid White Oak plank select flooring from Shamrock Plank Flooring in random width planks (3″, 6″, and 8″ wide), but also weaving the new wood flooring into some existing flooring which was also 3 “, 6″, and 8” random widths.
The new White Oak flooring planks being installed would be enhanced with a pegged look as though they were held down with dark Walnut pegs. (The pegged look wood floor effect is achieved by pre-drilling holes near the ends of each plank, prior to their installation and then inserting walnut plugs (to simulate pegs) after the planks are installed.)
We glued and nailed the new wood flooring installation.
Dan’s Floor Store also sanded the newly installed wood floor along with all of the other existing wood flooring on first floor the home for a total of 2700 ft.² of flooring. (This refinishing did not include the wood flooring that we had installed on the second floor of this home in March.) And as we worked, a rainbow came our to brighten our day.

Costa Rican Teak Floor Install Pablo Pointe
/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminFor this project, we installed some Costa Rican Teak hardwood flooring which these repeat clients had saved from a wood flooring project we had done years ago in their home off San Pablo Rd. in Pablo Pointe subdivision. We have made many Costa Rican Teak hardwood flooring installations over the years. Now the clients wanted this same, stunning wood flooring installed in two bedrooms for their children.
Here’s some photos of one of the carpeted bedrooms (before the old carpeting was removed), the concrete subfloor being prepared, and the Costa Rican Teak hardwood flooring being installed in one of the bedrooms. This wood flooring installation project was completed in two days; a very nice install.

Rotary Sawn Red Oak Wood Flooring Repair Plantation Oaks

First we carefully tore out the existing water damaged flooring. Then we installed new wood flooring by weaving-in.
We stained the new wood flooring to blend with the existing floor in then put three coats of Bona polyurethane on top to protect it.
Our clients were very happy with their repaired wood floor.

New Maple Flooring and Refinishing Red Oak Floor in Arlington
/in New Wood Flooring Installation, Wood Floor Refinishing /by adminExisting carpeting and existing wood flooring was removed in order to install the new flooring. Then we leveled the concrete subfloor, in preparation for the new wood flooring.
The clients chose a 5″ wide, hand scraped engineered maple hardwood flooring from the Padova collection by Versini.
During the installation, we undercut the stone fireplace, and matched perfectly with the different colored baseboards and built-in cabinets’ kick plates.
We laid the new maple flooring on the lower elevation first, then we lined it up the seams of the new maple flooring planks on the higher elevation with the seams in the new flooring on the lower elevation.
We sanded the existing red oak wood flooring to reveal its natural appearance. Then we stained it with Minwax Honey stain, and gave it three coats of Bona Mega Clear satin.
The whole project looks great and our customers love the colors of their new and refinished wood floors.

Installing Hickory Wood Flooring in Julington Creek

Engineered Weathered Walnut floor in Ponte Vedra Beach
/1 Comment/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminThe flooring that the client picked is 6 1/2″ wide engineered weathered Walnut flooring, in 1/2″ thick planks from the Nuvelle Flooring, Blowing Rock Collection. The selected flooring features a white wash, French bleed edges, and white stain in the grain. This is another wood flooring product that is redefining the beachy look in homes and businesses all around the First Coast. This particular flooring was chosen by the client because they liked the way it brings in the colors of the existing tile and cabinets together nicely. And this walnut floor displays a lot of visual variation from piece to piece, as is customary for walnut flooring.
Here’s a look at the room before we removed the existing carpeting. The first day on this project, we removed the old carpeting and leveled the subfloor, in preparation for installing the engineered walnut flooring.

Sand and Finish old solid Red Oak floors in Neptune Beach

On our first visit to the worksite to evaluate and estimate the project, we found existing wax on the wood flooring, with surface wear that looked like the floors had not been sanded and refinished since the 1950s.
First we sanded the old solid Red Oak floors. Next we applied a natural stain by DuraSeal. And then we added three coats of DuraSeal oil-modified polyurethane satin as finishing coats for durable protection for these old wooden floors.
As you can see in these photos, this old wood flooring was brought back to life by our excellent craftsmanship and superior machinery. And these old solid Red Oak floors will stay looking good for years ahead.

New Solid White Oak flooring in Atlantic Beach
/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminThe client’s guest house has a great view of the Atlantic Ocean.
First we installed a plywood subfloor, to APA (APA – The Engineered Wood Association) and NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) standards.
Then we installed select grade, 5″ wide by 3/4″ thick solid White Oak flooring by Shamrock Plank Flooring. Wood flooring planks that are 5″ wide must be glued and nailed down, which is a bit more labor to install, but they look very elegant.
Dan’s Floor Store wood flooring work complies with NWFA standards to provide beautiful results and long lasting wood floors for our customers. For example, when installing solid wood flooring like this one, it’s important to leave room for the wood to expand and contract. That’s why we install expansion joints (which you can see in some of the photos), using nickels between the boards every 10 feet.
Our crew will be coming back to sand and stain this new solid White Oak wood floor in a few months, after the wood has become fully acclimated.

New engineered White Oak wood floors in Jacksonville Beach

Dan’s Floor Store is very pleased that a lot of our wood floor and tile projects are either for repeat clients or are new clients referred to us by past clients who liked the wood floor or tile project we did for them and referred their family and friends to us.
Our client selected engineered White Oak flooring with white stain in the grain by Ark, called Brushed Linen from their Estate collection; a redefining beachy look. Very nice selection for this condo, near the beautiful beach.
There is a sound deadening requirement for flooring in Pier Point condos, because the building is comprised of 5 stories of stacked, concrete condo units. To achieve the sound deadening requirement for the condo flooring, we used Bostik’s Vapor Lock which is a sound deadening adhesive.
Our client prefers a shiny floor and the Ark engineered White Oak wood flooring she selected comes prefinished has a dull matte finish. No problem! We finished the floor in place with a semi gloss Bona Mega Clear HD.
We agree with our client, the results are beautiful! Another happy repeat client!
