For this job, the owners of a home in the North Island section of the Marsh Island Golf and Country Club community of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida provided us the wood look floor tiles for our crew to install. There were 3 different plank tiles used for this job. We installed their tile in the separate Casita, as well as the office, master bedroom, upstairs bonus room, and on the stairs that led up to bonus room.
Our work started by prepping; taking out all of the carpet from these areas as well as from the stairs. We spotted some small cracks in the concrete slab subfloor. Small, surface stress cracks in poured concrete floors can appear as the home settles. Our crew fills in cracks wider than 1/4″ wide. Then we applied Bostick Leveler to the concrete slab subfloors. The Leveler also fills in the smaller cracks in the concrete subfloor. Our crew sanded the edges of the sheet plywood to level the floors subfloors upstairs. We also squared the stairs off with Hardibacker board. Squaring the stairs like this gives better final results when we laminate the stairway with tile. Proper prepping for any job is important!
In the bonus room, our team installed Ditra membrane by Schluter as an underlayment, between the sheet plywood subfloor and the tile. Ditra is lighter than Hardibacker board. Ditra is a little more expensive but designed specifically for ceramic and stone tile installations to ensure the durability and integrity of the installation; a great product.

Sand and Finish Old Wood Floors in Ponte Vedra, Florida

Some of the wood floors in this project home were of White Oak with Walnut borders. Some of the floors were of Heart Pine.
This historic home was moved from the Riverside neighborhood to Roscoe Boulevard in Ponte Vedra, part of the way via a barge on the water (the St. Johns River and the Intracoastal Waterway).
A picture taken of the home, floating on the barge as it was being moved was displayed in one of the rooms in which we refinished the wood flooring.
After sanding the floors, and hand scraping the edges of all the sanded wood surfaces, our crew applied durable Pallmann Finish.

Refinish Old Heart Pine Floors – Downtown Jacksonville FL

The flooring in the home was circa 1900 Heart Pine, and the old home was adorned with interesting historic photos of Jacksonville and surrounding areas.
The finish on these old wooden floors in the project home was worn with years of use, but did not need repairs (such as weaving in replacement Heart Pine planks).
We began by sanding the floors, and then hand scraping the edges of the wood flooring.
Our team finished these floors with a durable Pallmann finish.

Refinish Old Red Oak Floors in Orange Park FL
/in Wood Floor Refinishing /by adminDan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to refinish the old, 1 1/2″ wide, solid Red Oak floors in a home in Orange Park, Florida.
The overall condition of the Oak wood flooring was good. These floors just hadn’t been refinished in nearly 20 year, so they deserved restoring.
Our crew began sanding with coarse, 36 grit sandpaper. And then we used finer, 80 grit sandpaper.
These photos show the old Red Oak flooring after being sanded in one room, and the Pallmann finish being applied in an adjacent room.
We finished these solid Red Oak floors with quality Pallmann hardwood coatings. First one coat of Pallmann Clear Sealer. Then two coats of Pallmann Power, ultra matte. We buffed the floors smooth, prior to applying the final coat.

Hickory Hardwood Flooring Installed near World Golf Village

The contractor provided the Hickory flooring for this project.
Our crew began by leveling on the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL 175 Premium Self Leveling Underlayment. A quality hardwood flooring installation requires a leveled subfloor.
We installed the Hickory hardwood flooring in the living areas of the new house using Bostik Greenforce adhesive.
This Hickory flooring has a lot of visual variation from plank to plank, which must be considered when installing the hardwood flooring, for an enjoyable finished hardwood floor look.

Tiling Two Showers in Mandarin
/in New Tile Installation /by adminFor this home improvement project, our client wanted new tile installed in two shower areas in their home in the Mandarin neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. They selected Tesola Silver in 12″ by 12″ and 2″ by 2″ mosaic, glazed ceramic tile by Emser Tile for both showers. One shower area retained the tub. In the other shower area, the tub was removed to make space for a larger showering area.
Our crew “demo’d” (did the necessary material removal work) in both shower areas. This also gave the plumber access for his work. The plumber removed the tub from one shower area, and installed the shower pans. Once all of this work was done by the plumber, our tile job could commence.
First, we hung all of the Hardibacker boards, to serve as the substrate for our tile installation.
After the Hardibacker boards were installed, our crew waterproofed the showers with Red Guard, mudding the pans of the showers with the proper slope, to drain well.
With our prep work done, we installed the Emser Tesola Silver tiles.

French Oak Hardwood Flooring and Stairs – Palencia
/in New Wood Flooring Installation, wood staircase installation /by adminAfter one of our FREE consultations, these clients looked at our selection of engineered hardwood flooring at our showroom, and selected 7 1/2″ wide French White Oak engineered hardwood flooring by Chesapeake Flooring, color Catalyst. Then contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install on the floors and stairway in their home.
Then the couple went out of the country, and entrusted our team to get the whole job done in 10 days:
After we removed the furniture from the project home, our crew leveled the concrete slab subfloor downstairs with quality Bostick self leveling underlayment. We leveled the sheet plywood floor upstairs by sanding the edges of the sheets. A level subfloor is important to a good hardwood flooring installation.
Here are some photos of the leveled downstairs concrete slab subfloor and prepared stair frame. Some of the photos show where we removed a little concrete around the brick features in the kitchen, so the Oak planks could extend under their edges.
This project home had some curved walls and walls set at a diagonal to the main (length and width) dimensions of the rooms. Not a problem for us because our crew practices “measure twice and cut once” workmanship. We installed the European Oak hardwood flooring using durable, dependable Bostik GreenForce Adhesive.
Our crew finished the Oak hardwood flooring installation on the stair frame with matching stair nosing.
In all, we installed approximately 2200 square feet of the 7 1/2″ wide French White Oak engineered hardwood flooring in this home.
And then our team moved the furniture back into our client’s home.

European White Oak Hardwood Flooring Installation – Riverside
/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminFor this project, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to install 9 1/2″ wide European White Oak engineered hardwood by Azur Reserve, color Belrose, upstairs and downstairs in a new build home. The new home is really close to the St. Johns River, in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida.
Our crew began this project by leveling the concrete slab subfloor downstairs with quality Bostik leveling underlayment. It took a lot of leveler but a leveled subfloor is important for a good flooring job. Upstairs we sanded the edges of the plywood sheet subfloor to create a level surface for the hardwood flooring.

Our customer wanted our crew to install the hardwood flooring planks running different directions in certain areas. Upstairs, we were to run the planks front to back. Downstairs, they wanted the wood planks installed running side to side in the 2 front rooms, the bathroom, and the closet adjacent to the bathroom, and the remaining rooms were to run front to back. The multiple directions of the downstairs flooring add depth to the new house. Some photos show the flooring straps we use to hold the wide hardwood planks together during installation.

LVP Flooring and Stairs Installation in World Golf Village

Our crew began this project by removing the old carpeting and tile flooring from the floors and stairs.
We leveled the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL150 Leveler to prepare it for LVP installation. A level subfloor is an important step to achieve a quality flooring installation. Our crew leveled the plywood subfloor upstairs by sanding the seams of the sheet plywood subfloor.
Our crew finished this Luxury Vinyl plank flooring installation. In one room, we installed the LVP in a diagonal pattern, to achieve the distinctive look our clients were looking for.
We continued the Acacia wood plank appearance LVP flooring for a matching look on the staircase treads, landings and nosings.
