A customer moving to a home in Ponte Vedra Beach (the Mikler / A1A area) contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring in their new home.
They selected the Youngscombe pattern LVP by duChateau for the floors and stairway. We were contracted to install this Luxury Vinyl Plank over the top of many existing tile and wood floors, throughout the house.
Some areas of the home had vinyl flooring and carpet, which our crew had to remove first. Then we installed plywood in its place. This makes the subfloor flush to the existing tile and wood floor elsewhere in the home.
Our crew found every single subtread on the stairway to be terribly unlevel. So, in order to install the LPV flooring on the stairway in this home, our crew was required to redo every, single subtread.
Also, when we placed a straight edge over the tiled areas of the home (which would serve as the subfloor for the new flooring) we found dips in areas of that tile job. So, our crew used wood flooring adhesive to level out the tiled areas.
Once the wood flooring adhesive over the tile fully dried, we were able to install all of the new LPV flooring.

Herringbone Pattern French Oak Floor in Nocatee

Yes, installing a wood floor in a herringbone pattern takes a little more planning, time, and work than installing wood planks side by side. But the installed flooring is both visually appealing and memorable!
After moving the bedroom furniture and removing the old flooring, we leveled the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL-150 Self Leveler.
We spotted some small cracks in the concrete slab subfloor. Small, surface stress cracks in poured concrete floors can appear as the home settles. Our crew fills in cracks wider than 1/4″, but the leveler fills smaller ones.
We chose Bostik GreenForce adhesive for this project.

Painted Stairways for a Home on the St. Johns River

During their FREE on-site consultation, these clients selected a matte black Sherwin Williams stair paint for their staircases.
Our crew began by sanding and hand scraping the edges of the Maple stair treads and landings of the stairways. Bare wood helps the stair paint adhere better to last longer, through daily traffic.
We masked off the areas of the stairways to be painted. Then our crew applied the quality Sherwin Williams stair paint with a matte black finish.
For added durability while retaining the non-reflective finish, we added a Pallmann matte to finish to the painted staircases.

Hickory Flooring and Stairway Installed – Atlantic Beach

They selected 5″ wide engineered, wire brushed Hickory Natural hardwood flooring by Mirage, with the DURAMATT finish.
The selection of this natural Hickory brings beautiful amounts of character and variance from plank to plank. These varied length planks encourage creativity in our installation crew, too!
(We also match stained Pine baseboards and shoe molding to the new Hickory flooring.)
For the stairway, we started by sanding the rough solid Hickory wood treads. Then our crew “popped the grain” of the wood treads with water, and wire brushed the treads to get the brushed effect seen on the Hickory flooring. We finished these solid Hickory stair treads with 3 coats of durable Pallmann finish.

Oak Staircase Refinished in Markland in St. Augustine

Our crew sanded and then hand scraped the stair treads, landings, and rails. Next we applied a black stain to the Red Oak wood, then sanded the surfaces just enough, leaving some of the stain in the wood grain. Our crew added a smokey look to the stair treads with a Rubio Monocoat Smoke .
We followed this up with Rubio Monocoat Natural. Allowed several weeks; ample time to cure. And then our crew coated the stairs, landings and rails with Pallmann Pall-X Gold.

Refinish Red Oak Stairway – Payasada in Ponte Vedra Beach

Red Oak stair treads and landings often have a orangey-pinkish hue to them. Overcoming / subduing the pink shades in Red Oak to mimic White Oak is a tough obstacle. But Dan’s Floor Store gets the job done!
After sanding and hand scraping the edges of these Red Oak stair treads and landings, our crew applied a white stain. Next came durable Pallmann products; two coats of Pallmann White Seal on top of two coats of Pallmann Pure. This resulted in a duller than matte finish look that our clients wanted.

Red Oak Staircase Refinishing in Palencia

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 had done a removal and new installation flooring project at this home in the Palencia Golf and Country Club community, several months ago. Now our client was ready to have their wooden staircase refinished to harmonize and correlate with their 7 1/2″ wide engineered White Oak flooring, in Malaga by Sawgrass Hills.
The Red Oak treads on this staircase had a massive amount of orangey-gunstock color to them. It is often a challenge to subdue the shades of pink that pop out when finishing Red Oak wood.
First we sanded and hand scraped the treads and landing.
0ur crew was able to subdue the pink hues with a special combination of Bona stains. We finished these Red Oak treads with 3 coats of Pallmann Gold Ultra Matte.
After our crew had the handrail sanded, our client wanted it painted, so we did!

We had just done a flooring job for these clients in a home in the Coastal Oaks community in Nocatee, Florida, six months ago. When they called us for this job, they had just purchased a new home in the 20 Mile community in Nocatee. They wanted to replace the carpeting on the upstairs floors and stairs in the new home with wood flooring.
Our crew began by removing approximately 1,800 square feet of carpeting from the floors and stairway of their new home.
We leveled the upstairs floors by sanding and hand scraping the edges of the sheet plywood subfloor.
Our clients chose 7 1/2″ wide engineered European Oak hardwood flooring by Sawgrass Hills. We installed the European Oak flooring on the floors and stairs using durable Bostik Greenforce adhesive. Our crew finished the hardwood flooring installation on the stair frame with matching stair nosing.

European Oak Hardwood Flooring Installation in Coastal Oaks

Even though this was a new home, our crew began by doing a massive amount of leveling of the concrete slab subfloor, using Bostik SL-150 self-leveling underlayment. The subfloors on all jobs done by Dan’s Floor Store must be leveled prior to flooring installation, to guarantee a strong bond to subfloor and a solid sounding floor versus a hollow floor sound!
We installed these 9 1/2″ wide European Oak planks using durable Bostik’s Green Force adhesive. This European Oak flooring laid out very attractively. European Oak is not as character filled as some wood flooring.

Tile, Wood Flooring and Stairs Install – Atlantic Beach

Our crew started by removing all of the existing wood and tile flooring. Then we leveled the subfloors.
Downstairs, we installed 3 different tile selections in various areas of this home and Casita using Fusion Pro Grout. Our crew used Tuscan TruSpace Seam Clips for the larger tiles.
– Ayers Rock Solar Summit 20” x 20” porcelain tile by Daltile.
– Lungarra Carrara 2” hexagonal tile by Daltile in one bathroom.
And we installed Alhambra Marengo tile by Casavitabella in the Casita.
We replaced the existing solid Oak stair treads with solid Sapele wood (African Mahogany) stair treads from Heritage Forest Products. We finished these stair treads with durable Pallmann finish.
Upstairs, our crew installed a matching 5″ wide, engineered Sapele wood flooring by Mirage.
