A plumbing leak inside the shower walls brought about this bathroom remodeling project in a home in Queen’s Harbor Yacht and Country Club. The homeowners called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 for a free consultation and estimate, to work with their insurance company. We got the contract to do the tile, and stone and glass work to remodel the water damaged bathroom.

First our crew “demo’d” (ripped out) the water damaged bathroom wall board. After the plumbing was fixed, we hung new cement backer boards. Cement backer boards are resistant to mold growth and damage from moisture, making them great tile underlayment for wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens. And then our crew applied waterproofing to the walls (the pink and yellow areas on the bare HardieBacker in some of the photos).

Our clients selected and provided the porcelain tile, and stone and glass for the mosaic for this project. (Dan’s Floor Store sells and can supply the tile, stone and glass for projects, too.) We started setting the 24″ by 24″ porcelain tile on the shower walls with the help of temporary horizontal boards. (These temporary boards hold the tiles in position until the adhesive set up.) Our crew added two “racing stripes” in glass and stone mosaic, with pencil stone borders. We also added glass and stone details in two wall inserts (handy for soap, shampoo bottles, etc.).

Then we mudset the 24″ by 24″ porcelain floor tiles, adding an elaborate basket weave-type inlay of stone. Our crew centered the stone inlay to the tub.
