Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was called to a home in Durban Crossing in St. John’s county, Florida to remove the old flooring, install LPV (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring, and refinish the stairway. There was a mix of carpet, tile, and wood flooring.

Our crew did this job in three stages. First we removed the old flooring and leveled the concrete slab subfloor on the first floor. Then our crew installed the 10″ wide Nuvelle LPV flooring from their Grandeur collection, color Ashville.
Next we removed the upstairs flooring and leveled the upstairs sheet plywood subflooring. Our crew installed the same LVP flooring upstairs.
For the last phase of this project, we came to the staircase work. Refinishing stairway to match the newly installed Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring included the Red Oak stair treads, rails, newel posts, and stair tread nosing. Our crew sanded and began refinishing the stairs using Bona Red Out (a two step process). Then Dan made a special blend of White and Birch Bona stains, and finished the staircase with 3 coats of Pallmann Sealer and Ultramatte polyurethane finish, to create a seamless blend in color with the new LVP flooring.

European Oak Flooring and Tile Install – Hibernia
/in match stain, New Tile Installation, New Wood Flooring Installation, stair treads /by adminFor this job, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 installed engineered European Oak hardwood flooring, and did tile work in a New 2 story home in the Hibernia community of Fleming Island, Florida.
Our team always starts a wood flooring installation by leveling the concrete slab subfloor for first floor work. We level the sheet plywood subfloor upstairs by sanding and then hand scraping the edges. Then our team installed the 4mm veneer LW Flooring Paradise Island Hawea, a 10 1/4″ wide x ⅝ thick engineered European Oak flooring. This flooring came in random lengths, so we could provide added visual appeal to the wood flooring as we installed it.
Dan also sanded, stained and finished the new stair treads, railings and posts to match the Hawea flooring. Dan can stain match treads to blend with most styles of wood flooring or vinyl plank.
Our team also installed tile in several areas of the new home. Our customer purchased many tile selections from us such as Elsmer Terramor Bianco marble tile for the primary bathroom and Daltile Artcrafted Glazed Ceramic 3 x 12 Coconut for a guest bathroom.
After leveling the subfloor, our team installed hardiebacker boards to protect the shower and bath tub area walls and ceilings from moisture intrusion.
Next we installed the tiles on walls, ceilings, and floors in patterns as specified by the client. Their design included tiled niches in shower and bathtub areas, and some natural skylights. We thought these were some very interesting design features and beautiful selections of tile in this new home.
Our team also installed customer provided tile in several other areas of the house such as the laundry room, pool bath and another bathroom. Dan’s Floor Store sells many styles and designs of tile, but we can also install customer provided tile.

Sand and Finish White Oak floors on little Piney Island, Fernandina
/in Wood Floor Refinishing /by adminDan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to refinish some 20+ year old, solid White Oak flooring. This project was in a home on Little Piney Island, right near the bridge to Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Sanding the old White Oak floors, revealed beautiful, select gray solid White Oak wood, and took away the old orangey/provincial-like stain.
To make sure we got the results our client wanted, we offered the look of three sample finishes, from which they could choose.
Our crew went back with our client’s choice; provided by a clear waterborne matte finish by Pallmann. First we applied Pallmann Clear, followed by two coats of Pallmann matte Power. Next our crew buffed down the entire floor and hand sanded all the edges. This helped us attain a smooth, beautiful final coat, which we applied after vacuuming.
Needless to say, our customers were super thrilled with the lighter, modern color of their old, solid White Oak floors. Dan’s Floor store likes to have happy clients.

New Build Hardwood Flooring Install – Jax Beach
/in New Wood Flooring Installation /by adminOne of our favorite local new home builders contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install some new hardwood flooring in south Jacksonville Beach. This newly built house required 3,500 square feet of wood flooring!
Our crew began by leveling the downstairs concrete subfloor with Bostik‘s SL-175 leveler. We leveled the subfloor upstairs by sanding the edges of the sheet plywood subfloor. It’s highly important to level the subfloor so that the wood flooring rides evenly on the subfloors.

Next our crew installed the Reward brand, Terreno Collection, color Conte, hardwood flooring. This flooring is a rustic grade, 9 1/2″ wide x 5/8″ thick European oak, and it comes in random lengths, to make it more appealing to the eye. We used Bostik’s Green Force adhesive for the installation. (Green Force is a moisture vapor barrier adhesive with no VOCs and is Floor Score Certified).

New Hardwood Flooring – New Tile in TPC Sawgrass

Our crew installed tile in master bathroom (with renovated separate toilet area/water closet and shower).
We began this project by removing the old wood flooring and tile.
Here’s the project materials that our crew brought in for this job..
Next we prepared the bathroom floor, shower and separate toilet area/water closet for tile installation.
Dan checked the moisture content of the new areas of concrete in the slab subfloor in the master bathroom. (A high moisture content can cause problems for new flooring.)
Then our crew used Bostik products to seal and to level the concrete subfloor. (An unleveled subfloor can cause problems with a new flooring installation, too.)
We installed new tile in the bathroom.
Our crew installed the 7 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak hardwood flooring, color Melrose, in random lengths, by Sawgrass Hills with Bostik Green Force Adhesive. Bedrosian tile from the Monet collection, with honed marble in Oriental White mosaic in a cross pattern were used in the shower floor and master bath floor. The shower wall and ceiling tile are glossy white 5 x 16 Tesoro tile from the Buteo collection.

European Oak Hardwood Flooring install – Nocatee

Our crew started this project by removing all of the old, existing tile, except for in the bathrooms.
We leveled the concrete slab subfloors with Bostik SL 175 leveler, to prepare them for the new engineered, character grade, European Oak hardwood flooring. (A leveled subfloor is important for a quality flooring installation.)

Red Oak Sand and Finish PVB Sawmill Lakes

This homeowner was moving up here from South Florida. She had just purchased the home. It had existing rotary peeled Red Oak flooring with a very nice veneer that was able to be sanded. We were contracted to refinish this floor.

A few boards in the home’s office had to be repaired (caused by a chair rubbing).
Our crew ended up sanding three different cuts of paper to remove this old, rough aluminum oxide finish!
We handcrafted a beautiful wooden medallion insert to be congruent to the Red oak treads, in color, using Bona Redout stain with White Birch, a special blend of Bona stains.
We ended up going back with Pallmann Clear as our sealer, with two coats of Pallmann Semi-Gloss Power because our customer desired a shiny appearance. She told us that she was thrilled with the outcome! Dan’s Floor Store always likes to have happy clients!

Nocatee Flooring Removal and New Installation

Our customer is relocating here from Spain and wanted us to remove the existing tile and put in new 7 1/2″ wide European White Oak hardwood flooring in random lengths, made by Reward.

After our crew removed the old tile flooring, we leveled the concrete slab subfloor, to prepare it for the hardwood plank flooring installation. A leveled subfloor is important for a good wood flooring installation.
Next we installed the new European White Oak hardwood hardwood flooring, complete with new shoe molding (after installing the new wood flooring).

New Red Oak Stair Treads and Rails in Ponte Vedra Beach
/in wood staircase installation /by adminDan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to install Craftsman style treads (Red Oak square edge treads) with landings in a home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
First, the crew installed the new Red Oak stair treads.
Then we sanded the treads to prepare them for finishing. But prior to finishing, our crew applied Bona Red Out (to diffuse some of the pinks which can appear in finished Red Oak floors) and stained them.
Next came 3 coats of polyurethane Pallmann white seal. And then two coats of Pallmann power ultramatte for the final, durable top coat.
We also sanded and stained the rails and the posts to integrate a soft, beachy vibe.
The feel of the refinished stairway, posts and rails blended nicely with the travertine flooring, below.
Painters will be painting the balusters white, and the stairway will look even better.
We will be creating an insert for the foyer. The insert will be a custom piece, made with 10” Red Oak select.

Sand and Finish Old Heart Pine Floors in St. Augustine

There is 1,600 square feet of flooring in this home.

The Pine wood was to be sanded and finished with 3 coats of Bona wood line polyurethane gloss. Our clients also wanted their refinished Heart Pine flooring and stairs to retain the same historic appearance as seen in other old homes in their area. To achieve this look, we used an oil modified polyurethane for three coats with gloss being the final coat sheen. (They wanted something really, really shiny.)
