Castlewood Oak Flooring Install in Coastal Oaks

Homeowners moving into the Coastal Oaks community at Nocatee from Las Vegas contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install wood flooring in the upstairs of their new home. They wanted the new wood flooring to match the wood flooring on the first floor of the home.

First our crew removed the existing carpet in designated areas upstairs. We found and removed a lot of squeaks and creaks in the second floor plywood subfloor. Then we installed a Genie Mat sound deadening membrane. (This mat reduces the sound of footsteps or other noise, for the benefit of people downstairs).

Dan was able to match the exact wood from the downstairs because this house was built only 5 years ago, so we were able to get the specifications for the flooring that the builder had used. The downstairs wood flooring was an engineered hardwood; Castlewood Oak by Shaw Floors hardwood, in their Drawbridge color. These Oak planks are 9/16 “ thick x 7.5” wide, and come in random lengths.

After installing the engineered hardwood Castlewood Oak flooring, our crew finished this installation job with shoe molding and 3 carpet tucks at the bedroom doorways.

7 wide White Oak Installation in Sawgrass

This customer contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to help with new flooring, while doing renovations and updates to their home in the Sawgrass Country Club neighborhood. They selected 7″ wide by 9/16″ thick, brushed, engineered White Oak hardwood flooring; color “Elanor” from the Muse collection by Mirage.

After removing the old flooring, Dan checked the moisture content of the concrete slab subfloor, and found the moisture level was higher than acceptable for a good wood flooring installation. Our crew applied Bostik‘s MVP-4 to protect the new wood flooring from the moisture in the concrete subfloor. This also levels the subfloor. (A level subfloor is also important to a quality flooring installation.)

Next, our crew installed the Mirage White Oak flooring, using Bostik’s moisture vapor control adhesive. (This Mirage flooring came in random lengths, and in the exclusive grade.) We installed the flooring in a plank design in the bedrooms. Our team installed this flooring in an eye-catching herringbone pattern throughout the main areas and halls of the home. (Mirage offers planks in herringbone formats in many of their colors and styles. Dan can also modify flooring planks for herringbone pattern installations (if not available from the manufacturer), when requested.)

European White Oak flooring Installation in Marsh Landing.

A homeowner in the Marsh Landing community of Ponte Vedra Beach contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 for her flooring project. She wanted to replace the 3 1/4″ wide, narrow plank Amendoim flooring in her home with an updated, wider plank European White Oak flooring. (Amendoim is a hardwood, from a tree which is native to South America.)

The lady chose LW Flooring in the Renaissance Collection. This is an engineered character grade European white oak floor in the color Klausen. Her new flooring is 7 1/2″ wide, in random lengths.

After removal of her old flooring, our team leveled the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik leveler. After 2-3 days to let the concrete leveler fully dry, we installed the new wood flooring with Bostik’s Greenforce , a no VOC, moisture control adhesive.

Dan also used Bona stains and Pallmann finishes to refinish her existing Oak stair treads to match the look of her new floors.
He mixed a custom formulation of different stain colors to achieve the Klausen flooring color look. Dan can create array of custom stains and finishes to blend with or match most wood flooring choices.

European Oak Flooring and Tile Install – Hibernia

For this job, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 installed engineered European Oak hardwood flooring, and did tile work in a New 2 story home in the Hibernia community of Fleming Island, Florida.

Our team always starts a wood flooring installation by leveling the concrete slab subfloor for first floor work. We level the sheet plywood subfloor upstairs by sanding and then hand scraping the edges. Then our team installed the 4mm veneer LW Flooring Paradise Island Hawea, a 10 1/4″ wide x ⅝ thick engineered European Oak flooring. This flooring came in random lengths, so we could provide added visual appeal to the wood flooring as we installed it.

Dan also sanded, stained and finished the new stair treads, railings and posts to match the Hawea flooring. Dan can stain match treads to blend with most styles of wood flooring or vinyl plank.

Our team also installed tile in several areas of the new home. Our customer purchased many tile selections from us such as Elsmer Terramor Bianco marble tile for the primary bathroom and Daltile Artcrafted Glazed Ceramic 3 x 12 Coconut for a guest bathroom.

After leveling the subfloor, our team installed hardiebacker boards to protect the shower and bath tub area walls and ceilings from moisture intrusion.

Next we installed the tiles on walls, ceilings, and floors in patterns as specified by the client. Their design included tiled niches in shower and bathtub areas, and some natural skylights. We thought these were some very interesting design features and beautiful selections of tile in this new home.

Our team also installed customer provided tile in several other areas of the house such as the laundry room, pool bath and another bathroom. Dan’s Floor Store sells many styles and designs of tile, but we can also install customer provided tile.

New Build Hardwood Flooring Install – Jax Beach

One of our favorite local new home builders contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install some new hardwood flooring in south Jacksonville Beach. This newly built house required 3,500 square feet of wood flooring!

Our crew began by leveling the downstairs concrete subfloor with Bostik‘s SL-175 leveler. We leveled the subfloor upstairs by sanding the edges of the sheet plywood subfloor. It’s highly important to level the subfloor so that the wood flooring rides evenly on the subfloors.

Here are photos of some of the materials we used for this project.

Next our crew installed the Reward brand, Terreno Collection, color Conte, hardwood flooring. This flooring is a rustic grade, 9 1/2″ wide x 5/8″ thick European oak, and it comes in random lengths, to make it more appealing to the eye. We used Bostik’s Green Force adhesive for the installation. (Green Force is a moisture vapor barrier adhesive with no VOCs and is Floor Score Certified).

New Hardwood Flooring – New Tile in TPC Sawgrass

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 recently replaced wood flooring with European Oak hardwood flooring in some rooms of a home in the TPC Sawgrass community. Our crew installed tile in master bathroom (with renovated separate toilet area/water closet and shower).

We began this project by removing the old wood flooring and tile.

Here’s the project materials that our crew brought in for this job..

Next we prepared the bathroom floor, shower and separate toilet area/water closet for tile installation.

Dan checked the moisture content of the new areas of concrete in the slab subfloor in the master bathroom. (A high moisture content can cause problems for new flooring.)
Then our crew used Bostik products to seal and to level the concrete subfloor. (An unleveled subfloor can cause problems with a new flooring installation, too.)

We installed new tile in the bathroom.

Our crew installed the 7 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak hardwood flooring, color Melrose, in random lengths, by Sawgrass Hills with Bostik Green Force Adhesive. Bedrosian tile from the Monet collection, with honed marble in Oriental White mosaic in a cross pattern were used in the shower floor and master bath floor. The shower wall and ceiling tile are glossy white 5 x 16 Tesoro tile from the Buteo collection.

This Dan’s Floor Store job took place in Nocatee community in St. Johns county, Florida. These customers have owned this home for a decade and are improving their flooring prior to relocating back from Japan.

Our crew started this project by removing all of the old, existing tile, except for in the bathrooms.

Nocatee Flooring Removal and New Installation

This Dan’s Floor Store flooring project took place in Nocatee, in the Coastal Oaks community. Our customer is relocating here from Spain and wanted us to remove the existing tile and put in new 7 1/2″ wide European White Oak hardwood flooring in random lengths, made by Reward.

Custom Breezeway Flooring in Deerwood

A custom home builder (whom we have worked with for years) contacted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303. They wanted us to create and install an interesting breezeway flooring concept. This new breezeway connects the main part of the home to a new master bedroom that the builder just added to the Deerwood Country Club neighborhood home.

Dan’s twin brother Larry does most of the tile and stone work, so he took the lead on this job.

For the new breezeway, we decided to use 18″ by 18″ squares of white stone in the center, and 3″ wide Red Oak hardwood flooring for the borders of the stone.

Our crew began by leveling the concrete slab flooring in the breezeway. Then, using squares of plywood for the base for the stone centers, we spaced them to create the interesting pattern for the breezeway.

Next, our crew fitted the unfinished Red Oak hardwood flooring, two planks wide, to form log cabin borders. Our design concept resulted in a beautiful pinwheel basket weave design, that progressed though the breezeway. After we sanded, stained, and finished the Red Oak hardwood, our crew finally applied adhesive and installed the Red Oak flooring around the stone squares.

5″ Wide Oak Flooring Install and Refresh Stairway in Ponte Vedra Beach

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to install 5″ wide Mirage TruBalance White Oak flooring in an upper hallway and two bedrooms, refinish stair treads, and refresh the look of the tiled stairway risers to more coastal colors. (The refinished stair treads were to match the look of the new White Oak flooring.)

Our crew removed the old carpeting in specified areas upstairs. Then we leveled the sheet plywood subfloor by sanding and hand scraping the subfloor edges. Next our crew started installing the beautiful Mirage White Oak wood flooring.

We only installed flooring in the hallway and two upstairs bedrooms that tied into a nosing along with the stair landing in the wood flooring.

Then we got new White Oak treads and stain matched them. First came sanding the treads, and then wire brushing them. First staining them white, then sanding and staining them a darker shade (with some of the primary stain remaining), for a soft, two tone stain look. The bottom stair tread was a super custom-made stair tread, created by our stair artisan. (Dan has a talent for very successful stain matching wood, which was Super Duper congruent to the flooring!)

First we stripped the stair frame.

We refreshed the look of the tiled risers with more coastal colors, too!

Then we added the new tile to the risers, and the new stain matched treads to achieve refreshed stairways.
