8 wide Sweetgrass Hardwood Install in Ponte Vedra

One of our home builder associates called on Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install some hardwood flooring in one of their new homes.

They selected 8″ wide French Oak hardwood flooring from the Charleston Veranda collection, color Sweetgrass, by Palmetto Road for this new house.

We like to start any flooring installation project with a leveled subfloor. A leveled slab subfloor helps our crew to achieve a quality flooring installation.

Installing the engineered 8″ wide French Oak hardwood flooring, we used Bostik GreenForce adhesive. In some photos you can see the blue tape we use to hold the hardwood planks in place, while the adhesive sets up.

To add interest to this beautiful flooring in different rooms, we made flooring direction changes. You can also see where our crew brought flooring up flush to stone and travertine covered areas, with no thresholds.

Red Oak Flooring Refinish – Install and Retile Bathroom – Long Point CC

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted by a realtor, whom we were referred to by another realtor, to improve flooring and tile in a recently sold house. This house is in the Long Point Country Club neighborhood, on Amelia Island.

Our work would entail adding Red Oak flooring to a staircase, a storage room, and another staircase, along with sanding and refinishing 3,800 square feet of Red Oak flooring, and another staircase.

The specie sanded was Red Oak rift and quarter sawn, throughout the main part of the house. Our crew installed select grade 2 1/4″ Maxwell unfinished engineered Red Oak, to be congruent with existing Red Oak floor in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

The stain formula we used for refinished Red Oak flooring was 1 part Bona Antique Brown with 2 parts Bona Natural stain. It created a lovely color, which was exactly what our customer wanted.

Our crew also removed and retiled a bathroom tub and shower surround with Datile Divinium Nova DV06 color glossy 6×18 rectangles for the herringbone pattern on walls/tub surround tile, and marble Datile honed Calacatta Gold M475 hexagon floor tile.

We finished this job in only 3 weeks, and our customer was super happy with the outcome!

Install 2 1/4 wide Red Oak Engineered flooring – Glen Kernan CC

Some of our Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 flooring projects involve installing new wood flooring to match existing wood flooring in a home. Such was the case in a recent project for a home in Glenn Kernan Golf and Country Club. For this project, the new, engineered wood flooring would be installed flush with the existing, solid wood flooring.

We began the project by leveling the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik‘s SL 175. Based on our experience, we believe a quality flooring installation starts with a leveled subfloor.

Our crew installed 2 1/4” wide x 5/8” thick Red Oak engineered wood flooring by Maxwell,to line up with and continue the flooring plank lines of the existing 2 1/4” solid Red Oak wood flooring, across the header boards at doorways. We made directional changes going into the master bedroom leading to master bathroom. And then our crew did re-directional changes of the Red Oak wood flooring planks in master bedroom closets as well. We glued down the new wood with Bostik‘s Green Force adhesive. Blue tape, used to hold the flooring in place until the adhesive sets, can be seen in some of the photos. The flooring patterns looked very nice!

We sanded all the floors, the stairway treads, rails and newel posts for a sanded wood or untreated look, treating the bare wood with Pallmann Nature Seal followed by Pallmann Pure finish.

The homeowners told us that they loved the look of their Red Oak floors, and refinished stairway! Dan’s Floor Store is always happy to have satisfied customers.

Installing 7 1/2 wide European Oak flooring in Fernandina Beach

One of our home building contractor associates subcontracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install hardwood flooring in a home they were building in Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island. A 7 1/2″ wide wire-brushed European Oak hardwood flooring by Reward flooring was selected for this project.

Our crew starts each installation project by leveling the subfloor. A leveled subfloor is important for a quality flooring installation. And while leveling, we took a peek out one of the back windows of the home.

After the subfloors were leveled, we began installation of the European Oak hardwood flooring. The flooring was installed in two different directions, giving the floors a more interesting appearance. Blue tape, used to hold the flooring in place until the adhesive sets, can be seen in some of the photos.

Tile and White Oak Flooring Install – Springfield

Our Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was selected for a wood flooring and tile flooring improvement project in the Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida.

We began by roughing up the stained concrete slab floor with a floor grinder. Then our crew leveled the concrete slab (which we would use as the subfloor for our Oak hardwood flooring and our tile installations). A level subfloor is very important to achieving a quality flooring installation.

Subsequently we began flooring installation. For this job, it was 5″ wide engineered White Oak hardwood flooring for most of the house, with 17″ x 17″ tile in the kitchen, and 8″ x 8″ decorative tile in the bathroom.

Install French Oak Hardwood Flooring in Palencia

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 does flooring, tile, and stone work for Residential and Commercial clients.

A local building contractor friend recently contracted Dan and his team to install 9.4″ wide engineered French Oak hardwood flooring from the Asheville collection by Palmetto Road in a new construction home in the Palencia community in St. Augustine, Florida. This home has over 3,000 square feet of floor space downstairs, and 1,300 square feet of flooring upstairs. This new house has large open rooms (and closets) and plenty of big windows, from which to enjoy views of the surrounding area.

Our flooring installation practice begins with leveling the subfloors. We leveled the concrete slab subfloor downstairs. And our crew sanded and hand scraped the edges of the sheet plywood subfloor upstairs. A quality flooring installation requires a leveled subfloor.

We began engineered French Oak flooring installation at the back doors of the new house. Our crew laid flooring side to side as you entered the front door of the house. The hallway was over 80 feet long, and included a lot of doorways and door casings (to tuck the flooring under).

As can be seen in several photos, the fireplace provided opportunities for our crew to display our skill at tight flooring fitting. Our motto is “Measure twice, cut once.”

Heart Pine Flooring in Marsh Landing

Homeowners in the Marsh Landing community in Ponte Vedra, Florida contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to sand and refinish the Heart Pine flooring in their home, while they would be away on a Spring Break voyage. Since this couple liked the Heart Pine floors in some areas of their home, they asked Dan to also install beautiful New Growth Heart Pine flooring which they had obtained (for a harmonious match and continuation) in some other areas in their home, too. (They chose their an upstairs long hallway, their Master bedroom, and a closet for this flooring improvement project.)

After moving the furniture and removing the old flooring, we leveled the plywood sheet subfloor upstairs, by sanding the edges of the sheets. We also got some major squeaks out of the upstairs subfloor by installing some 3″ long screws. Then our crew installed their new growth Heart Pine flooring.
We repaired a board downstairs due to beetle damage, then sanded the upstairs and downstairs Heart Pine flooring.
Then our crew finished the Heart Pine with a beautiful, clear matte finish by Pallmann, to match the look the original flooring had prior to starting this job. (Our crew applied one coat of Pallman clear coat, followed by 2 coats of durable Pallmann Gold matte finish.)

White Oak Flooring and Treads installed – Penman Road

Dan’s Floor Store 903.887.8303 was brought in to help one of our local building contractors. They subcontracted us to install some 7 1/2″ wide White Oak flooring in a new home on Penman Road at the Beaches of Jacksonville, Florida.

Our crew began by leveling the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL 175 Premium Self Leveling Underlayment. We sanded the edges of the sheet plywood second floor and stairway frame to level those areas.

Next, we installed the 7 1/2″ wide White Oak flooring by Palmetto Road on the first and second floor of the home, using Bostik Green Force adhesive. These White Oak planks featured a mineral streak, giving them a lot of variation between planks.

Our crew used tape to hold these wide engineered White Oak hardwood planks together while the adhesive set.

We installed the same White Oak planks (and matching nosing) on the stairway treads.

European Oak hardwood flooring.

European Oak Flooring & Treads Installed – Ponte Vedra

A homeowner in Ponte Vedra, Florida purchased 3,000 square feet of 9 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak engineered hardwood flooring by Nuvelle. Then they contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install this European Oak on their floors and stairway.

We began by leveling the concrete slab subfloor and sanding the edges of the plywood sheet subfloor on the second level of the home. (A good wood flooring installation requires a leveled subfloor.) Then we began flooring installation. The flooring straps we use for the wide plank flooring installations can be seen in some of the photos.

This client didn’t want shoe molding around their waterfall countertops or their cabinets. So the crew tucked the flooring at the bottom of the waterfall countertops, and got closer than 1/16″ around all of the cabinets, throughout the home.

Our client also wanted a more seamless transition at their doorways, between tiled areas and the new wood flooring. So, we milled the full T-molding down to a lower profile and achieved no raised surface at the transition.

The Dan’s Floor Store crew installed the same European Oak flooring on the stair treads. The stair tread nosing we had ordered from the factory arrived in the wrong color. So, we had to sand them down and stain and finish the nosing to match the flooring.
