When it was time for a flooring and stairway improvement in this 3 story rental beach condo in South Amelia Island, Florida, the owners called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 for one of our FREE consultations and estimates. They decided on a 7″ wide, Luxury Vinyl Tile (also called Luxury Vinyl Plank or LVP) by DuChateau , in the Color Filmon.

Our crew began this project by removing the old carpeting and tile flooring from the floors and stairs. We also had to replace damaged plywood subflooring in numerous areas of the upstairs floors.

Then our crew installed the 7″ wide Luxury Vinyl Tile upstairs and downstairs, and on the 45 stair treads.

Luxury Vinyl Plank Stairway and Flooring Installation in Nocatee

Luxury vinyl plank flooring - installedWhen they were ready for a flooring improvement project in their home, some Nocatee residents contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install Luxury Vinyl Plank on their stairway and on the second floor of their home.

Our clients chose 7″ wide Luxury Vinyl Plank by Palmetto Road Flooring in the color “Good Earth”, from the Tidewater collection.

This job was all upstairs work and stairs. Our crew started by sanding the seams of the plywood subfloor. It appeared that the plywood had swollen at the seams in the sheets of plywood, possibly from rain before the roof was installed on the home.

This first step is just one of things we do to make a quality flooring installation for happy clients. We don’t just go into a new job site and start laying down the new flooring. Our crew starts by prepping the subfloor. And for this job, it meant sanding all the raised plywood subfloor seams so the Luxury Vinyl flooring planks would lay flat and evenly over the subfloor. This step is very important for good results with Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring. Luxury Vinyl Plank is not made to absorb irregularities in the subflooring surface.

On the staircase, our crew installed the Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring, nosing, and white risers, to give the staircase a nice, timeless look. White risers against the dark wood tone looks beautiful! It also helps differentiate the steps for safer use. This helps with easier visibility and depth perception for people who use the steps.

Our crew finished out the job by installing white shoe molding around the edges of the new Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring, where the existing baseboards were.

Our client chose Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring from the LW Flooring Riverstone Collection, in the Citrine Oasis color.

Our crew started this job by grinding down the high spots on the existing floor tiles with our diamond grinder. This grinder also has a vacuum attachment on the skirt, to trap all of the grinding dust.

  • Grinding the surface of the existing tile flooring flat is one step that most others do not do when installing vinyl plank flooring over top of tile.
  • At Dan’s Floor Store, we do not cut corners. Preparation is a key to achieving a quality, durable Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring installation.

Prior to installing the Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring, our crew removed the existing baseboards. Then after installing all of the vinyl plank flooring, we installed new block style baseboards, and new shoe molding.

The owner selected White Oak engineered vinyl plank flooring by LW Flooring, in their Riverside collection. They chose a style called Anise.

Our crew installed the White Oak vinyl plank flooring over a plywood subfloor. Part of this job included cutting a relief along the bottom of a stone fireplace, so the flooring could tuck under it properly.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation – Manatee Cafe – St. Augustine

As a result of one of our free consultations and estimates, another commercial job for Dan’s Floor Store this year!

The Manatee Cafe of St. Augustine, FloridaThe Manatee Cafe in St. Augustine is a predominantly vegetarian, vegan Cafe. It’s a really great breakfast and lunch place off of SR16.

They chose Mannington AduraMax Bay Breeze vinyl plank flooring, creating an image of vintage, reclaimed oak plank flooring for this project. Vinyl plank has taken off as a great flooring for commercial spaces. This project would also entail putting in new shoe molding.

We did not want the Cafe to close (and lose business) on our behalf, in order to get their new vinyl flooring installed. We estimated that it would take two nights to complete the job, so we offered to execute the job while they were closed. (This became a night job.) We were able to install the vinyl plank flooring over the existing tile flooring, saving some time on this project.

Fresh Jax store frontA recent Dan’s Floor Store project installed vinyl tile flooring in Fresh Jax, a new commercial location that will offer healthy food, a smoothie bar, and also a yoga studio, located off of Gate Parkway near I-295.

Vinyl plank flooring provides impressive wood and stone looks that stand up to high traffic and high moisture, and this flooring has become very popular in commercial settings and is also becoming more popular in residences as well.
