European White Oak flooring Installation in Marsh Landing.

A homeowner in the Marsh Landing community of Ponte Vedra Beach contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 for her flooring project. She wanted to replace the 3 1/4″ wide, narrow plank Amendoim flooring in her home with an updated, wider plank European White Oak flooring. (Amendoim is a hardwood, from a tree which is native to South America.)

The lady chose LW Flooring in the Renaissance Collection. This is an engineered character grade European white oak floor in the color Klausen. Her new flooring is 7 1/2″ wide, in random lengths.

After removal of her old flooring, our team leveled the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik leveler. After 2-3 days to let the concrete leveler fully dry, we installed the new wood flooring with Bostik’s Greenforce , a no VOC, moisture control adhesive.

Dan also used Bona stains and Pallmann finishes to refinish her existing Oak stair treads to match the look of her new floors.
He mixed a custom formulation of different stain colors to achieve the Klausen flooring color look. Dan can create array of custom stains and finishes to blend with or match most wood flooring choices.

European Oak Flooring and Tile Install – Hibernia

For this job, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 installed engineered European Oak hardwood flooring, and did tile work in a New 2 story home in the Hibernia community of Fleming Island, Florida.

Our team always starts a wood flooring installation by leveling the concrete slab subfloor for first floor work. We level the sheet plywood subfloor upstairs by sanding and then hand scraping the edges. Then our team installed the 4mm veneer LW Flooring Paradise Island Hawea, a 10 1/4″ wide x ⅝ thick engineered European Oak flooring. This flooring came in random lengths, so we could provide added visual appeal to the wood flooring as we installed it.

Dan also sanded, stained and finished the new stair treads, railings and posts to match the Hawea flooring. Dan can stain match treads to blend with most styles of wood flooring or vinyl plank.

Our team also installed tile in several areas of the new home. Our customer purchased many tile selections from us such as Elsmer Terramor Bianco marble tile for the primary bathroom and Daltile Artcrafted Glazed Ceramic 3 x 12 Coconut for a guest bathroom.

After leveling the subfloor, our team installed hardiebacker boards to protect the shower and bath tub area walls and ceilings from moisture intrusion.

Next we installed the tiles on walls, ceilings, and floors in patterns as specified by the client. Their design included tiled niches in shower and bathtub areas, and some natural skylights. We thought these were some very interesting design features and beautiful selections of tile in this new home.

Our team also installed customer provided tile in several other areas of the house such as the laundry room, pool bath and another bathroom. Dan’s Floor Store sells many styles and designs of tile, but we can also install customer provided tile.

LVP Flooring – Stairway Refinish in St. Johns County

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was called to a home in Durban Crossing in St. Johns county, Florida to remove the old flooring, install LPV (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring, and refinish the stairway. There was a mix of carpet, tile, and wood flooring.

Here are some photos of the staircase before.

Our crew did this job in three stages. First we removed the old flooring and leveled the concrete slab subfloor on the first floor. Then our crew installed the 10″ wide Nuvelle LVP flooring from their Grandeur collection, color Ashville.

Next we removed the upstairs flooring and leveled the upstairs sheet plywood subflooring. Our crew installed the same LVP flooring upstairs.

For the last phase of this project, we came to the staircase work. Refinishing stairway to match the newly installed Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring included the Red Oak stair treads, rails, newel posts, and stair tread nosing. Our crew sanded and began refinishing the stairs using Bona Red Out (a two step process). Then Dan made a special blend of White and Birch Bona stains, and finished the staircase with 3 coats of Pallmann Sealer and Ultramatte polyurethane finish, to create a seamless blend in color with the new LVP flooring.

Refreshed stairway - featured.

5″ Wide Oak Flooring Install and Refresh Stairway in Ponte Vedra Beach

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to install 5″ wide Mirage TruBalance White Oak flooring in an upper hallway and two bedrooms, refinish stair treads, and refresh the look of the tiled stairway risers to more coastal colors. (The refinished stair treads were to match the look of the new White Oak flooring.)

Our crew removed the old carpeting in specified areas upstairs. Then we leveled the sheet plywood subfloor by sanding and hand scraping the subfloor edges. Next our crew started installing the beautiful Mirage White Oak wood flooring.

We only installed flooring in the hallway and two upstairs bedrooms that tied into a nosing along with the stair landing in the wood flooring.

Then we got new White Oak treads and stain matched them. First came sanding the treads, and then wire brushing them. First staining them white, then sanding and staining them a darker shade (with some of the primary stain remaining), for a soft, two tone stain look. The bottom stair tread was a super custom-made stair tread, created by our stair artisan. (Dan has a talent for very successful stain matching wood, which was Super Duper congruent to the flooring!)

First we stripped the stair frame.

We refreshed the look of the tiled risers with more coastal colors, too!

Then we added the new tile to the risers, and the new stain matched treads to achieve refreshed stairways.

Red Oak Flooring Refinish – Install and Retile Bathroom – Long Point CC

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted by a realtor, whom we were referred to by another realtor, to improve flooring and tile in a recently sold house. This house is in the Long Point Country Club neighborhood, on Amelia Island.

Our work would entail adding Red Oak flooring to a staircase, a storage room, and another staircase, along with sanding and refinishing 3,800 square feet of Red Oak flooring, and another staircase.

The specie sanded was Red Oak rift and quarter sawn, throughout the main part of the house. Our crew installed select grade 2 1/4″ Maxwell unfinished engineered Red Oak, to be congruent with existing Red Oak floor in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

The stain formula we used for refinished Red Oak flooring was 1 part Bona Antique Brown with 2 parts Bona Natural stain. It created a lovely color, which was exactly what our customer wanted.

Our crew also removed and retiled a bathroom tub and shower surround with Datile Divinium Nova DV06 color glossy 6×18 rectangles for the herringbone pattern on walls/tub surround tile, and marble Datile honed Calacatta Gold M475 hexagon floor tile.

Match Stained Oak Stair Treads and Oak Hardwood Flooring Install – Palencia

A homeowner moving into this area contracted Dan’s Floor Store 903.887.8303 for her new home’s flooring and stair tread improvement project.

She chose 7 3/4″ wide Trubalance wood flooring in the Hula Hoop color by Mirage to be installed throughout her home, and wanted the wooden stair treads to match.

The Dan’s Floor Store crew leveled the subfloors, then installed the new White Oak flooring, and removed the old stair treads.

Then they checked the stair frame, to assure the support for each new stair tread would be level and solid.

The new, solid White Oak treads were wire brushed, and then stained with the Hula Hoop stain by Mirage (to match the new wood flooring). These stair treads were finished with three coats of durable polyurethane finish. And white risers were installed on the stairway. You can see how well the new stair treads match the color of the new hardwood flooring in the last photo in this batch.

The bottom two stair treads were irregularly sized Red Oak. Dan custom, match stained these Red Oak treads to match the Hula Hoop color of the new White Oak stair treads. This is not easy to do because the Red Oak and White Oak, being two different species, have different tones in the natural wood. A stain color can give different results on Red Oak versus White Oak.

Sand, Stain, Finish Red Oak Flooring in Matanzas Inlet

Homeowners in the Matanzas Inlet, Florida neighborhood contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to stain and refinish their Red Oak floors. They also wanted us to stain and refinish their stairway treads to match the new look of their floors.

Here are some photos of the way their Red Oak floors looked before we started.

Our crew started this project by sanding 1,500 square feet of Red Oak flooring to remove the old finish. We used our big Lagler-Hummel belt sander. for the main areas. Then our crew used edge sanders and hand scraped the edges of the wood flooring.

To get better visual results with the wood stain, we “popped” the grain of the wood flooring with a little water. Popping raises the grain of the wood to allow the stain to penetrate deeper in the wood than the stain would, if applied straight out of the can.

In order to get the look our clients wanted, our crew mixed three parts Provincial to one part Neutral/Natural Bona wood stains.

To finish this Red Oak flooring, we applied the applied two coats of durable Pallmann products – Pall-X Clear Sealer and then Pall-X Power Finish. Then we buffed down these first two coats of polyurethane finish, and finished this job with a final coat of Pallmann Gold. The Pallmann Gold top coat is a non-ambering, clear, 2 part waterborne polyurethane finish.

We followed the same sequence – sanding, staining, and refinishing – on the stair treads. We achieved a nice matching look with the wood.

Sand, Stain, Finish Red Oak Flooring and Staircase – Fruit Cove

Our clients selected unfinished, engineered, rotary peeled Red Oak flooring by Howell hardwood flooring for their home improvement project.

First our crew leveled the concrete slab subfloor, to prepare it for the new wood flooring.

Next we installed the new Red Oak flooring planks, lining them up to the existing lines of the old floor.

We sanded the Red Oak flooring and then “popped” the grain of the wood planks with water to open them up for better stain absorption.

Our crew stained the wood flooring with Bona Antique Brown stain.

Then we finished the wood flooring in this room with durable Pallmann products – one coat of Pallman Pall-X Clear sealer , then a coat of Pallmann Pall-X Power ultra matte finish. We buffed down the floor and applied a final coat of Pallmann Pall-X Power ultra matte finish. Our crew finished this room first, so that the grand piano could be moved into the room, and we could do the rest of the job.

We refinished the adjacent Red Oak floors in the home to match the new Red Oak flooring. This part of the job included weave-in repair of 10 damaged flooring planks.

Our crew also sanded and stained the stair treads to match, as well as the stair rail.

Sand, Stain and Finish White Oak Flooring – North Vilano Beach

For this home improvement project, our Dan’s Floor Store crew was called to a home in North Vilano Beach. The homeowners wanted their wire brushed 5″ White Oak flooring stained to match the look of their wooden stairs treads. We can do that!

After closing off the portion of the home where we would be working on their floors with ZipWall Dust Barrier System, we sanded and hand edged the White Oak flooring down to bare wood.

Our crew applied a light spray of water to “pop” the White Oak wood grain. Then we selected and applied a 50/50 combination of Bona stains; Bark and Red Mahogany to achieve the matching look on the floors.

We finished the match stained wood floors with durable Pallmann products – Pall-X Color, color sealer, followed by 2 coats of Pallmann Pall-X Power Finish, satin water borne polyurethane.

Brazilian Chestnut and Tile Flooring Installations – Marsh Creek Country Club

New homeowners in the Marsh Creek Country Club community of Saint Augustine Beach, Florida called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303. They wanted our professional flooring and stair help in making their new home to fit their vision.

Our clients selected engineered 3 1/4″ wide Brazilian Chestnut wood flooring by Triangulo, and some 12″ by 24″ rectangular tiles by Emser Tile and Stone for their home.

Our crew started work on this project by removing the existing carpeting and tile flooring in the home.

Prior to installing new flooring, we did a massive amount of leveling of the concrete slab sub-floor and the plywood second story sub-floor. In two of the upstairs rooms, there was an odor of urine from the previous owner’s pet, so we had to change out the plywood prior to leveling it.

With the sub-floors leveled, our crew installed the Brazilian Chestnut wood flooring.

We installed new Red Oak treads on the stairs, stain matching them to the Brazilian Chestnut flooring.

Our crew also installed the rectangular tile flooring in the kitchen, the laundry, and a small bathroom.
