Tiling Two Showers in Mandarin

For this home improvement project, our client wanted new tile installed in two shower areas in their home in the Mandarin neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. They selected Tesola Silver in 12″ by 12″ and 2″ by 2″ mosaic, glazed ceramic tile by Emser Tile for both showers. One shower area retained the tub. In the other shower area, the tub was removed to make space for a larger showering area.

Our crew “demo’d” (did the necessary material removal work) in both shower areas. This also gave the plumber access for his work. The plumber removed the tub from one shower area, and installed the shower pans. Once all of this work was done by the plumber, our tile job could commence.

First, we hung all of the Hardibacker boards, to serve as the substrate for our tile installation.

After the Hardibacker boards were installed, our crew waterproofed the showers with Red Guard, mudding the pans of the showers with the proper slope, to drain well.

With our prep work done, we installed the Emser Tesola Silver tiles.

Tile Backsplash Installation – Hickory Manor

Installed kitchen backsplash tileDan’s Floor Store installed tile backsplash in the kitchen of a home in Hickory Manor, off of Girvin Road in Jacksonville, Florida.

The homeowners found and purchased an ornate tile shape for their kitchen backsplash. They contacted Dan’s Floor Store and asked us to professionally install the tile backsplash for them.

Our crew installed their tile with mastic, grouted with white grout. We chose a white plastic Schluter to match the tile and grout and trim the backsplash out. This combination gave the backsplash a nice, clean look.

Wood Look Tiles and River Rock Installation in Atlantic Beach

Homeowners in Atlantic Beach called us for a free consultation and estimate for installing wood look tile and river rock flooring for some of the floors and bath and shower areas of their home.

Wood look porcelain tile by DaltileWe recommend the quality wood look porcelain tiles made by Daltile. They resist moisture, are easily maintained, and help with heating and cooling (because porcelain remains cool to the touch owing to its composition). Digital imaging and high-tech manufacturing produce wood-grain porcelain tiles with realistic textures and visual details.  Often, it is difficult to distinguish wood look tiles from wood without taking a much closer look.

The project involved installing 1000 square feet of wood look floor tiles, and also installing wood look tile in the two shower areas in the home.

One shower area was a stand up shower, in which we installed River Rock flooring by Emser Tile and mirror image corners. The other shower area that we tiled was a tub and shower surround.

The first step of the flooring installation portion of this project was cleaning and leveling the concrete subfloor. As these photos show, there was a massive amount of leveling that had to take place to ensure a flat floor prior to the tile installation.

These photos show us installing the wood look floor tiles. The tile installation was executed in a three step pattern, in which every other one will repeat. The tiles were centered up nicely in the long hallway. One of the installation photos shows some of the intricate tile cuts required to follow the outline of the natural stone surface around the fireplace foundation.
