Brazilian Pecan Hardwood Flooring Installation – Palencia

Installed Brazilian Pecan hardwood flooringHomeowners in the Palencia community along the west bank of the Intracoastal Waterway in St. Augustine were ready for a new look in their home. They contacted Dan’s Floor Store for their flooring home improvement project – to replace 1,000 square feet of their tile flooring with some exotic wood flooring.

Our clients chose a 5 1/4″ by 1/2″ thick engineered Brazilian Pecan hardwood flooring with a “chocolate” stain by Triangulo for their new wood floor. This wood flooring, like most Brazilian specie, has a large amount of variation from plank to plank. It makes a wild looking, beautiful floor.

First our Dan’s Floor Store crew had to remove the old tile flooring.

A large amount of cuts had to be made prior to the tile being removed.

Checking moisture content of the concrete slab subfloor, we found the tile had been set prior to the slab being fully cured. So next we leveled the concrete slab, applying Bostik Universal Primer and then Bostik SL-150 Leveling Compound. To protect the wood flooring we were about to install for this project, we abated the moisture in the slab with Bostik’s MVP (Moisture Vapor Protection).

We installed the Brazilian Pecan hardwood flooring with Bostik Greenforce hardwood flooring adhesive. Application of Bostik Greenforce provides additional moisture protection for the new wood flooring, as well as long term adhesive durability.

Our Dan’s Floor Store crew finished out this project by installing floor trim molding around the new Brazilian Pecan hardwood flooring and at the doorways, and then kicked the carpeting back at each of the doorways to the bedrooms.
