Installing Hickory Hardwood Flooring in Palencia

When the owners of a home in the Palencia community in St. Augustine, Florida were ready for a new look for their floors, they called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303.

Stony Brook Hickory hardwood flooring.These homeowners wanted to replace the laminate flooring in most of the rooms of their home. They decided on hand scraped, wire brushed, 7 1/2″ wide engineered Hickory hardwood flooring, called Stony Brook by Naturally Aged, from their Medallion collection for their new wood flooring. This wood flooring comes in random lengths, which makes their floors more visually appealing.

As we started removing the old laminate flooring, we were surprised to find that the laminate had been installed with pressure sensitive glue! (That’s not a recommended, durable adhesive for flooring.) Once the old laminate flooring and the sticky glue were removed, we leveled the concrete slab subfloor of the rooms in the home that were to get the new flooring.

Our clients decided to extend the Hickory hardwood flooring into the bathroom, so we removed the pedestal sink and toilet and prepared that subfloor, too.

We “picture framed” the hearth for the fireplace in the den, and cut a 5′ by 3′ slab of porcelain tile to fit. It made a nice focal point for the room; a nice touch.

Our crew made header boards for the doorways to the bathroom and the master bedroom, so no t-molding. We installed the Hickory hardwood flooring through the rest of the rooms, using durable Bostik Greenforce adhesive.
