New Hardwood Flooring – New Tile in TPC Sawgrass

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 recently replaced wood flooring with European Oak hardwood flooring in some rooms of a home in the TPC Sawgrass community. Our crew installed tile in master bathroom (with renovated separate toilet area/water closet and shower).

We began this project by removing the old wood flooring and tile.

Here’s the project materials that our crew brought in for this job..

Next we prepared the bathroom floor, shower and separate toilet area/water closet for tile installation.

Dan checked the moisture content of the new areas of concrete in the slab subfloor in the master bathroom. (A high moisture content can cause problems for new flooring.)
Then our crew used Bostik products to seal and to level the concrete subfloor. (An unleveled subfloor can cause problems with a new flooring installation, too.)

We installed new tile in the bathroom.

Our crew installed the 7 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak hardwood flooring, color Melrose, in random lengths, by Sawgrass Hills with Bostik Green Force Adhesive. Bedrosian tile from the Monet collection, with honed marble in Oriental White mosaic in a cross pattern were used in the shower floor and master bath floor. The shower wall and ceiling tile are glossy white 5 x 16 Tesoro tile from the Buteo collection.

Nocatee Flooring Removal and New Installation

This Dan’s Floor Store flooring project took place in Nocatee, in the Coastal Oaks community. Our customer is relocating here from Spain and wanted us to remove the existing tile and put in new 7 1/2″ wide European White Oak hardwood flooring in random lengths, made by Reward.

Here’s a look at some of the tile flooring we removed.
After our crew removed the old tile flooring, we leveled the concrete slab subfloor, to prepare it for the hardwood plank flooring installation. A leveled subfloor is important for a good wood flooring installation.
Next we installed the new European White Oak hardwood hardwood flooring, complete with new shoe molding (after installing the new wood flooring).

European White Oak Hardwood Flooring Installation – Riverside

For this project, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to install 9 1/2″ wide European White Oak engineered hardwood by Azur Reserve, color Belrose, upstairs and downstairs in a new build home. The new home is really close to the St. Johns River, in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida.

Our crew began this project by leveling the concrete slab subfloor downstairs with quality Bostik leveling underlayment. It took a lot of leveler but a leveled subfloor is important for a good flooring job. Upstairs we sanded the edges of the plywood sheet subfloor to create a level surface for the hardwood flooring.

Our customer wanted our crew to install the hardwood flooring planks running different directions in certain areas. Upstairs, we were to run the planks front to back. Downstairs, they wanted the wood planks installed running side to side in the 2 front rooms, the bathroom, and the closet adjacent to the bathroom, and the remaining rooms were to run front to back. The multiple directions of the downstairs flooring add depth to the new house. Some photos show the flooring straps we use to hold the wide hardwood planks together during installation.

Wire Brushed White Oak Flooring and Staircase – Marshview

View of the marsh.This Dan’s Floor Store wood flooring installation and staircase project took place in a home in Marshview.

Marshview is a community just north of Vilano Beach, directly off the Coastal Highway.

The carpeting which is installed in most homes starts to wear and become harder to keep clean after three or four years.

This home improvement project entailed removing the existing carpet in four different rooms and adjacent closets and staircase, and replacing the carpeting with wire brushed White Oak flooring and solid White Oak stair treads.

Our client chose a 9 inch wide by 9/16 inch thick wire brushed European White Oak with a natural top and white stain in the soft grain. This wire brushed White Oak flooring is a product of Nuvelle, in the Camelot collection – Oak Mist.

After removing the carpet from the floors and stairs, we leveled the subfloor, installed the White Oak flooring, and prepared the staircase for the new stair treads.

The staircase required 29 solid White Oak stair treads. We wire brushed the tread after sanding them so they had the same texture as the new wood flooring. Next we stained the stair treads white to mimic the flooring, using white stain in the grain. Our crew finished the new White Oak stair treads with Bona Traffic matte.

There were two landings installed, which we had to do in place. We usually pre-finish the stair treads, prior to installation (to eliminate getting any stain up on skirt boards), and then install them.

Brushed European White Oak Flooring Installation – St. Augustine

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was called to help with a home improvement project in St. Augustine, Florida, right across from the World Golf Village King and Bear golf course.

Wire brushed European White Oak flooring installedFor this project, our clients were replacing their old carpets with wire brushed European White Oak flooring by Forest Accents flooring.

They chose the Canterbury pattern, a 3/8″ thick by 5″ wide, random length engineered wood floor with white stain into the wood grain and a darker, caramel brownish stain on top.

Very nice!

After removing the old carpeting, we did a moisture evaluation of the concrete slab with our concrete moisture meter. This is a routine precaution for Dan’s Floor Store, prior to wood flooring installations. A concrete slab subfloor with a high moisture content can damage wood flooring.

As is often the case when installing wood flooring on a concrete slab, to replace carpeting, we did a large amount of floor leveling. Having a leveled subfloor helps the wood flooring that we install have a longer service life.

Prior to installing the wood flooring planks, we popped a series of chalk lines to make sure the wood flooring installation runs square.

Our Dan’s Floor Store crew used Bostik Pro-Cure professional urethane adhesive to install the brushed European White Oak flooring on the concrete slab subfloor of the clients’ home.

We finished this project off by installing T moldings around the tile area and shoe molding against the baseboards.

This job was another great wood flooring installation for Dan’s Floor Store! And our clients were very happy with their new wood flooring, too!

Coastal Look European White Oak Wood Flooring Installation in PVB

Dan’s Floor Store was contacted by a homeowner in Turtle Shores, in south Ponte Vedra Beach, for one of our free flooring consultations and estimates.

The carpeting on her floor was installed in the 1980s, so it was ready for replacement. Most standard, contractor grade carpeting that is installed in new construction homes is only designed to last for 3 or 4 years before it begins to deteriorate and becomes harder to clean. She also wanted the tile flooring in her foyer replaced with wood flooring. We would install the new wood flooring on 900 square foot of her home.

European White Oak wood flooring installedOur client wanted new wood flooring to give her home a beachy look. She selected 1/2″thick by 7 1/4″ wide LM flooring engineered European White Oak wood flooring from the Saint Laurent collection with the Privas finish – a whitish grayish color stain for a very coastal and beachy look.

This project began with removing the client’s furniture from the selected areas of her home.

We removed the old carpeting and tile, then we prepared and leveled the plywood subfloor.

Then we installed new coastal look European White Oak wood flooring.

The client loved the coastal look we achieved with her new European White Oak wood flooring. And we are always happy when our clients are pleased with our work.

Replacing Travertine with European White Oak flooring in St. Johns County

Earlier this year, Dan’s Floor Store replaced approximately 1200 ft.² of Travetine tile with new European White Oak wood flooring in a home on the river in St. Johns county, Florida.

 

New European White Oak plank flooringThe flooring that was chosen for this project is Vintage Loft by Real Wood Floors, a wire brushed European White Oak wood flooring with a lot of texturing and some beautiful knots and grain for character.

First the existing Travertine tile flooring was removed.

In order for the new solid wood flooring to come flush to the existing Travertine in adjoining rooms, we installed “header boards”. Header boards run perpendicular to the direction of the wooden floor planks. We had to make perfect cuts for a good fit and pleasing appearance, using the old wisdom, “Measure twice and cut once”.

The mud bed for the old Travertine tile was not level enough to properly support the new wood flooring, so we had to taper and feather different thicknesses of plywood subfloor to graduate with the rolling mud bed and properly prepare and level the area for the new wood flooring.

We used flooring straps to get the floor super tight. Some of the planks/boards were very long boards up to 8 foot long to be exact.

The new European White Oak wood plank flooring has a 4 mm sawn face and is coated with UV cured oil. This wood flooring is 8 3/4 inches wide by 5/8 inch thick. The final European White Oak wood flooring looks beautiful!

New European White Oak wood floor and Stair Tread Refinishing in South Jax Beach

New European White Oak wood flooring installedThere were two parts to this Dan’s Floor Store project; one part was to install some elegant new European White Oak wood plank floor that was 7 1/2 inch wide by 9/16 of an inch thick, known as “Tuscany” from the Renaissance collection by LW Flooring.

New wood flooring installation follows a thorough and often extensive subfloor leveling process which Dan’s Floor Store must perform to prevent variations in the surface of the subfloor causing dips and humps in the wood flooring installation. These photos show the subfloor.

These photos show wood floor planks being strapped together with special flooring straps during installation, due to the width of the planks. Included in one of the photos is a bucket of the Bostick GreenForce combined high performance adhesive and moisture control membrane that we used.

This elegant solid European White Oak wood floor is redefining the “Beachy” look without being super light; it has a fumed-type of look and as you can see, there is a lot of variation in the darkness of the finish from plank to plank.

The second part of the project was to sand and stain the wooden stair treads to blend with the new European White Oak wood floor.

 

We finished our work with Bona Traffic HD with a matte finish that looks great and has super durability, in addition to being a green product.
