Repair, Sand and Finish Wood Flooring in Springfield Apartments

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted to repair, sand, and finish the wood flooring in 18 apartments in the historic Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. The flooring was a mix of Red Oak, White Oak, and Pine.

There were many areas of wood flooring to repair throughout some of the apartment homes, due to termites and other damage. We used the weave-in method to replace sections of wood flooring from other old, vintage homes in the area.

In some of these photos, you can see where we used recovered subfloor, and lighter areas in the flooring show where the subfloor touches the beams.

In all, our crew repaired, sanded and finished nearly 14,000 square feet of wood flooring in these apartments to restore a beautiful, natural wood look!

We applied 3 coats of polyurethane; 1 coat of Bona Fast Dry Sealer, and 2 coats of Pallmann Power Ultramatte.

This job took nearly a month for the Dan’s Floor Store crew to complete. It took a lot of work to remove the layers of wax, paint, tar, drywall residue and more that had accumulated on the existing flooring in each apartment unit. For us, each unit was a time consuming labor of love to be prettied up, and we did!

Sand and Finish Old Wood Floors in Ponte Vedra, Florida

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was selected to refinish the old wooden floors in a home on Roscoe Boulevard in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Some of the wood floors in this project home were of White Oak with Walnut borders. Some of the floors were of Heart Pine.

This historic home was moved from the Riverside neighborhood to Roscoe Boulevard in Ponte Vedra, part of the way via a barge on the water (the St. Johns River and the Intracoastal Waterway).

A picture taken of the home, floating on the barge as it was being moved was displayed in one of the rooms in which we refinished the wood flooring.

After sanding the floors, and hand scraping the edges of all the sanded wood surfaces, our crew applied durable Pallmann Finish.

Refinishing Old Wood Flooring and Stairs in Riverside

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8383 enjoys refinishing old wood floors and stairways to their earlier elegance. We are proud that our work is helping to preserve our Country’s architectural history.

In this old home, located in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida, the whole upstairs flooring was Heart Pine. The downstairs and stairs were made of White Oak.

Our crew sanded the old upstairs and downstairs wood floors, and the wooden stair treads. Next we hand scraped the edges of each sanded area of flooring and stair tread, to ready them for finish application.

Our Team applied durable Pallmann finish to the old Heart Pine and White Oak flooring, and the White Oak stairway.

Refinishing Solid White Oak Floors and Stairway – Atlantic Beach

This Atlantic Beach homeowner wanted a beachy look to brighten this home, and contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to refinish and whiten his White Oak floors and stairway.

We began by sanding and hand scraping the edges of 2,600 square feet of solid White Oak hardwood flooring. The floors are a mixture of number one common and number two common. (Number 2 common has more color variations and knotting than number 1 White Oak hardwood flooring.) Our crew also sanded and hand scraped the 18 Oak stair treads in the home, to refinish them.

Our customer selected Bona White stain for his floors and stairway. We stained the White Oak floors and stairs after “popping” the wood grain with water to open them up for a deeper stain results.

Our crew began finishing these White Oak floors and stairs with two coats of Pallmann White Seal.

Then we applied a final coat of Pallmann Pure, to achieve the very low sheen floors and stairs that our client wanted.

Sand and Finish Oak Flooring in St. Augustine Beach

View out the window - St. Augustine Beach.This job took place in St. Augustine Beach. The homeowners were moving here from Pittsburgh and Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was able to squeeze this job into our busy schedule for some new Floridians.

Their floors are number 1 Red Oak with number 2 White Oak flooring planks peppered in here and there. We have also seen this mixture of Red and White Oak planks in flooring in some other homes built in the 1950s.

Our clients wanted a bare/naked wood look for their floors. Pallmann has a product that helped us achieve that look, so our clients asked us to refinish their Oak stair treads to match their Oak floors.

We sanded the old, oil modified polyurethane finish off, and hand scraped the edges of the Oak floors and stair treads.

Our crew coated these Oak floors and stair treads with Pallmann Natureseal and Pallmann Pure; companion sealer and finish for giving the bare/naked wood look to the flooring. The result it the look of a freshly sanded Oak floor, but the floor has 3 coats of protection.

This Pallmann finish combination is amazing – the dry look is so clear, more dull than an ultra matte, and it is in trend with the vibe of this St. Augustine Beach house!

Install and Sand and Finish Oak Flooring in Marsh Landing

Timing your home flooring improvements for the two weeks you will be out of town sounds like Great logistics planning to us!

These Marsh Landing Country Club neighborhood homeowners contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to replace or refresh the all the existing flooring in their home, while they were going to be away for 2 weeks.

Our crew began by removing the old flooring in most areas of the home. Next we leveled all of the bare concrete slab subfloor for a better wood flooring installation.

Then our crew installed 1,800 square feet of 8″ wide engineered, hardwood French White Oak flooring by Palmetto Road flooring, from the Veranda collection, color named Sand Dune. We used durable Bostik Greenforce adhesive to install the French White Oak plank flooring.

Moving on to the kid’s bedrooms, we sanded and then finished 450 square feet of 2 1/4″ wide, select grade White Oak flooring.
– Our crew began by sanding these floors and hand scraping around the edges.
– Finishing, we first applied quality Pallmann products – clear waterborne polyurethane Pallmann Pall-X Clear Sealer.
– Then a second coat of finish, Pallmann Pall-X Power Ultra Matte.
– Our final finish coat was made with Pallmann Pall-X Gold Ultra Matte.

Here are some photos of the refinished 2 1/4″ wide White Oak flooring. To complete this home flooring improvement project, we installed shoe molding around the perimeter of all the wood flooring in this home.

Sand, Stain, and Finish Wood Flooring at Matthew’s Restaurant in San Marco

Matthew's Restaurant of San Marco, in Jacksonville, FloridaMatthew’s Restaurant in San Marco, in Jacksonville, has been recognized as one of Northeast Florida’s most distinctive restaurants since its opening in 1997.

Chef Matthew of Matthew’s Restaurant, and Dan DiCarlo, owner of Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 have been friends for over 25 years.

The Restaurant was being closed for a week for renovations under a tight timeline, and Chef Matthew called Dan to refinish (sand, stain, and finish) the bar area Oak wood flooring.

Our crew started work at 5AM, sanding the bar floor with rough paper. Then we sanded the Oak floor with fine paper, hand scraped the corners and palm sanded all the ends to eliminate any sanding marks. Next our crew buffed the job smooth.

To achieve a deep stain, we “popped” the wood flooring grain with water applied with damp cloths.

We applied Bona Ebony stain. Our crew applied durable Pallmann products – one coat of Pallmann clear, followed by one coat of Pallmann Power ultra matte finish.

Two days later, after the bar area had been painted, we buffed down the job and put a final coat of Pallmann 98 ultra matte.

Matthew and his staff were thoroughly pleased with our performance and the beautiful wooden bar floor job we left! And Dan’s Floor Store always likes to have happy clients!
