7 wide White Oak Installation in Sawgrass

This customer contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to help with new flooring, while doing renovations and updates to their home in the Sawgrass Country Club neighborhood. They selected 7″ wide by 9/16″ thick, brushed, engineered White Oak hardwood flooring; color “Elanor” from the Muse collection by Mirage.

After removing the old flooring, Dan checked the moisture content of the concrete slab subfloor, and found the moisture level was higher than acceptable for a good wood flooring installation. Our crew applied Bostik‘s MVP-4 to protect the new wood flooring from the moisture in the concrete subfloor. This also levels the subfloor. (A level subfloor is also important to a quality flooring installation.)

Next, our crew installed the Mirage White Oak flooring, using Bostik’s moisture vapor control adhesive. (This Mirage flooring came in random lengths, and in the exclusive grade.) We installed the flooring in a plank design in the bedrooms. Our team installed this flooring in an eye-catching herringbone pattern throughout the main areas and halls of the home. (Mirage offers planks in herringbone formats in many of their colors and styles. Dan can also modify flooring planks for herringbone pattern installations (if not available from the manufacturer), when requested.)

New Hardwood Flooring – New Tile in TPC Sawgrass

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 recently replaced wood flooring with European Oak hardwood flooring in some rooms of a home in the TPC Sawgrass community. Our crew installed tile in master bathroom (with renovated separate toilet area/water closet and shower).

We began this project by removing the old wood flooring and tile.

Here’s the project materials that our crew brought in for this job..

Next we prepared the bathroom floor, shower and separate toilet area/water closet for tile installation.

Dan checked the moisture content of the new areas of concrete in the slab subfloor in the master bathroom. (A high moisture content can cause problems for new flooring.)
Then our crew used Bostik products to seal and to level the concrete subfloor. (An unleveled subfloor can cause problems with a new flooring installation, too.)

We installed new tile in the bathroom.

Our crew installed the 7 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak hardwood flooring, color Melrose, in random lengths, by Sawgrass Hills with Bostik Green Force Adhesive. Bedrosian tile from the Monet collection, with honed marble in Oriental White mosaic in a cross pattern were used in the shower floor and master bath floor. The shower wall and ceiling tile are glossy white 5 x 16 Tesoro tile from the Buteo collection.

Tile and White Oak Flooring Install – Springfield

Our Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was selected for a wood flooring and tile flooring improvement project in the Springfield neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida.

We began by roughing up the stained concrete slab floor with a floor grinder. Then our crew leveled the concrete slab (which we would use as the subfloor for our Oak hardwood flooring and our tile installations). A level subfloor is very important to achieving a quality flooring installation.

Subsequently we began flooring installation. For this job, it was 5″ wide engineered White Oak hardwood flooring for most of the house, with 17″ x 17″ tile in the kitchen, and 8″ x 8″ decorative tile in the bathroom.

White Oak Flooring and Treads installed – Penman Road

Dan’s Floor Store 903.887.8303 was brought in to help one of our local building contractors. They subcontracted us to install some 7 1/2″ wide White Oak flooring in a new home on Penman Road at the Beaches of Jacksonville, Florida.

Our crew began by leveling the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL 175 Premium Self Leveling Underlayment. We sanded the edges of the sheet plywood second floor and stairway frame to level those areas.

Next, we installed the 7 1/2″ wide White Oak flooring by Palmetto Road on the first and second floor of the home, using Bostik Green Force adhesive. These White Oak planks featured a mineral streak, giving them a lot of variation between planks.

Our crew used tape to hold these wide engineered White Oak hardwood planks together while the adhesive set.

We installed the same White Oak planks (and matching nosing) on the stairway treads.

Install, Sand, Finish – White Oak Flooring – Sawgrass TPC

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 was contracted for a wood flooring job in TPC Sawgrass, right on the Dye’s Valley Course!

Our client was a new homeowner and he was moving here from Boston, Massachusetts with his family. They needed to get this job done under a strict time frame; finished right before Thanksgiving!

Dan did the on-site inspection of the wood flooring project site, and measured the designated project flooring areas. The project was to refinish the existing wood flooring, and replace existing carpet with matching wood flooring in the carpeted sunken living room and a master bedroom. He determined the existing wood flooring in the home (to be matched) was solid White Oak, in 2 1/4 inch wide planks.

Our crew removed all of the old carpeting and leveled the concrete subfloor. A good wood flooring installation requires a leveled subfloor. Leveling included around the two fireplaces; one in the master and one in the sunken in living room. The area in the sunken living room required extensive leveling to arrive to the same height as the fireplace hearths.

As we started the wood flooring installation, our crew picture framed header boards around the fireplaces, completely flush to the marble. Our crew used an unfinished engineered wood product that is made in America by Maxwell; in 2 1/4 inch wide White Oak engineered hardwood flooring, using Bostiks Greenforce adhesive.

Meanwhile, the existing White Oak flooring was being sanded with our sanding equipment by Dan and his crew.

We used Pallman Nature Seal, and Pallman Pure to finish this flooring job.

Needless to say, Dan and his Dan’s Floor Store crew met the timeline to allow our customers to move in right before Thanksgiving and enjoy their Thanksgiving in their new home, with our new Floors.

Installing 9 1/2″ wide White Oak Hardwood Flooring in North St. Augustine

A leak ruined the flooring upstairs in this home, and the home owner called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303.

After one of our FREE consultations the home owner selected 9 1/2″ wide White Oak engineered hardwood, color Fresco, by Shaw Expressions Flooring.

Next, a good flooring installation requires a level subfloor, so we sanded the edges of the plywood sheet subflooring to create a level subfloor.

During a break, we peeked out the rear windows, enjoying the home owner’s nice view of their back yard and the marsh.

This flooring project took place on a street in the Palencia Country Club community where we have done many prior jobs. Actually, this flooring project was a result of the recommendation from the next door neighbor, who is one of our prior clients from a few years ago.

For this job, homeowners wanted a new look for the floors in their home; replacing their old, Red Oak floors and the tile flooring in their laundry room. They selected 7 1/2″ wide, engineered White Oak flooring by Sawgrass Hills, color Malaga.

Installing Winter Oak plank flooring in Nocatee

Some Dan’s Floor Store flooring projects cover large areas of flooring in a home or business. Others may focus on one or two rooms, or a staircase or more. These homeowners, live in the Coastal Oaks community of Nocatee. They contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to replace the old carpeting in the second floor of their home with Oak wood flooring.

Our clients chose 7″ wide engineered Winter Oak plank flooring from the Vintage collection by Mohawk for this home improvement.

First we removed 1,600 square feet of old carpeting. In one of the photos, looking over the banister, you can see the Oak plank flooring on the first floor. The new Oak flooring will continue that look on the second floor.

Next we leveled the second floor plywood subfloor to prepare it for the Oak plank flooring installation, by sanding and hand scraping any high spots.

Our crew started installing the Winter Oak plank flooring from the top of the stairs, running the planks front to back like downstairs. We used flooring straps to hold the wide planks in place during installation.

The banister was much higher than the flooring. So, we milled down custom trim pieces to frame the base of the banister. Our crew also made custom trim for the bathroom doorways.

Such a beautiful area! Lots of wildlife! We saw a gator and two red tail hawks while we were there. Here are some photos from the back yard of the home.

FSC White Oak Flooring Install and Match Stain Stairs in Shearwater

After this homeowner had closed on his new home in the Shearwater community, near St. Augustine, Florida, he contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 for a flooring and stairway improvement project.

Our client wanted FSC certified White Oak flooring installed in his home in several rooms, in place of the carpeting, which had also been installed on the stairway. And he wanted Oak stair treads on his staircase, match stained for the same look as the new wood flooring. We can do that!

Contractor grade carpeting usually lasts several years and then begins to break down. When the carpeting breaks down, it retains more dirt and pollen, and little pieces of fiber from the carpet break off and go into the air in the home as lint. (And nobody needs more lint in their home!)

We began this project by removing 10,000 square feet of carpeting from the home, from spaces including 3 bedrooms, a loft living room, and the stairway and landing.

Our client had selected FSC certified, 7″ wide, oil finished White Oak flooring, Brushed Patina, Root by Tesoro. An FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

After leveling the subfloors, we applied Bostik’s Green Force zero VOC adhesive for installing the White Oak flooring planks.

Creating a matching stain for the solid White Oak stair treads took some experimenting. Dan’s Floor Store is experienced in match staining wood. Matching the look with stain is sometimes more challenging. Even though this was a hard wood flooring color to mimic, by mixing different ones, Dan was able to create a matching stain in about 10 minutes! We are very proud of the stain match!

For this project, we used Ribio Monocoat, a No VOC oil coating. The final combination of Bourbon, Dark Oak , Oyster, Ash Grey, and Stone Ribio Monocoat stain colors resulted in an impeccable visual match for the Oak stair treads to the newly installed White Oak flooring.

Our customer was absolutely, positively thrilled with his new FSC Certified White Oak floors and match stained staircase! And Dan’s Floor Store always likes to have happy clients!
