European Oak Flooring and Tile Install – Hibernia

For this job, Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 installed engineered European Oak hardwood flooring, and did tile work in a New 2 story home in the Hibernia community of Fleming Island, Florida.

Our team always starts a wood flooring installation by leveling the concrete slab subfloor for first floor work. We level the sheet plywood subfloor upstairs by sanding and then hand scraping the edges. Then our team installed the customer provided 10 1/4″ wide LW engineered European Oak hardwood flooring. This flooring came in random lengths, so we could provide added visual appeal to the wood flooring as we installed it.

 

(We sanded, stained, and finished the home’s solid white oak stair treads, railings and posts match the new European Oak wood flooring, too.)

Our team also installed client-selected and provided tiles in several areas of the new home. For example, our client provided Terramor Bianco marble by Elsmer Tile for the primary bathroom. After leveling the subfloor, our team installed hardiebacker boards to protect the shower and bath tub area walls and ceilings from moisture intrusion.

Next we installed the tiles on walls, ceilings, and floors in patters as specified by the client. Their design included tiled niches in shower and bathtub areas, and some natural skylights. We thought these were some very interesting design features and beautiful selections of tile in this new home.

(Although some of the wood flooring and tile materials used in this project were purchased and provided by our client, we can also provide them via our Ponte Vedra showroom store.)

New Build Hardwood Flooring Install – Jax Beach

One of our favorite local new home builders contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install some new hardwood flooring in south Jacksonville Beach. This newly built house required 3,500 square feet of wood flooring!

Our crew began by leveling the downstairs concrete subfloor with Bostik‘s SL-175 leveler. We leveled the subfloor upstairs by sanding the edges of the sheet plywood subfloor. It’s highly important to level the subfloor so that the wood flooring rides evenly on the subfloors.

Here are photos of some of the materials we used for this project.

Next our crew installed the Reward brand, Terreno Collection, color Conte, hardwood flooring. This flooring is a rustic grade, 9 1/2″ wide x 5/8″ thick European oak, and it comes in random lengths, to make it more appealing to the eye. We used Bostik’s Green Force adhesive for the installation. (Green Force is a moisture vapor barrier adhesive with no VOCs and is Floor Score Certified).

New Hardwood Flooring – New Tile in TPC Sawgrass

Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 recently replaced wood flooring with European Oak hardwood flooring in some rooms of a home in the TPC Sawgrass community. Our crew installed tile in master bathroom (with renovated separate toilet area/water closet and shower).

We began this project by removing the old wood flooring and tile.

Here’s the project materials that our crew brought in for this job..

Next we prepared the bathroom floor, shower and separate toilet area/water closet for tile installation.

Dan checked the moisture content of the new areas of concrete in the slab subfloor in the master bathroom. (A high moisture content can cause problems for new flooring.)
Then our crew used Bostik products to seal and to level the concrete subfloor. (An unleveled subfloor can cause problems with a new flooring installation, too.)

We installed new tile in the bathroom.

Our crew installed the 7 1/2″ wide, wire brushed European Oak hardwood flooring, color Melrose, in random lengths, by Sawgrass Hills with Bostik Green Force Adhesive. Bedrosian tile from the Monet collection, with honed marble in Oriental White mosaic in a cross pattern were used in the shower floor and master bath floor. The shower wall and ceiling tile are glossy white 5 x 16 Tesoro tile from the Buteo collection.

European Oak Hardwood Flooring install – Nocatee

This Dan’s Floor Store job took place in Nocatee community in St. Johns county, Florida. These customers have owned this home for a decade and are improving their flooring prior to relocating back from Japan.

Our crew started this project by removing all of the old, existing tile, except for in the bathrooms.

We leveled the concrete slab subfloors with Bostik SL 175 leveler, to prepare them for the new engineered, character grade, European Oak hardwood flooring. (A leveled subfloor is important for a quality flooring installation.)

Here are some nice photos of the newly installed European Oak hardwood flooring, which we installed using Bostik Green Force adhesive. This flooring by Bella Citta was 7 1/2″ wide, and came in random lengths.

Install 2 1/4 wide Red Oak Engineered flooring – Glen Kernan CC

Some of our Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 flooring projects involve installing new wood flooring to match existing wood flooring in a home. Such was the case in a recent project for a home in Glenn Kernan Golf and Country Club. For this project, the new, engineered wood flooring would be installed flush with the existing, solid wood flooring.

We began the project by leveling the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik‘s SL 175. Based on our experience, we believe a quality flooring installation starts with a leveled subfloor.

Our crew installed 2 1/4” wide x 5/8” thick Red Oak engineered wood flooring by Maxwell,to line up with and continue the flooring plank lines of the existing 2 1/4” solid Red Oak wood flooring, across the header boards at doorways. We made directional changes going into the master bedroom leading to master bathroom. And then our crew did re-directional changes of the Red Oak wood flooring planks in master bedroom closets as well. We glued down the new wood with Bostik‘s Green Force adhesive. Blue tape, used to hold the flooring in place until the adhesive sets, can be seen in some of the photos. The flooring patterns looked very nice!

We sanded all the floors, the stairway treads, rails and newel posts for a sanded wood or untreated look, treating the bare wood with Pallmann Nature Seal followed by Pallmann Pure finish.

The homeowners told us that they loved the look of their Red Oak floors, and refinished stairway! Dan’s Floor Store is always happy to have satisfied customers.

Installing 7 1/2 wide European Oak flooring in Fernandina Beach

One of our home building contractor associates subcontracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to install hardwood flooring in a home they were building in Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island. A 7 1/2″ wide wire-brushed European Oak hardwood flooring by Reward flooring was selected for this project.

Our crew starts each installation project by leveling the subfloor. A leveled subfloor is important for a quality flooring installation. And while leveling, we took a peek out one of the back windows of the home.

After the subfloors were leveled, we began installation of the European Oak hardwood flooring. The flooring was installed in two different directions, giving the floors a more interesting appearance. Blue tape, used to hold the flooring in place until the adhesive sets, can be seen in some of the photos.

Installing 9 1/2″ wide White Oak Hardwood Flooring in North St. Augustine

A leak ruined the flooring upstairs in this home, and the home owner called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303.

After one of our FREE consultations the home owner selected 9 1/2″ wide White Oak engineered hardwood, color Fresco, by Shaw Expressions Flooring.

Next, a good flooring installation requires a level subfloor, so we sanded the edges of the plywood sheet subflooring to create a level subfloor.

During a break, we peeked out the rear windows, enjoying the home owner’s nice view of their back yard and the marsh.

Our crew installed the White Oak hardwood flooring using Bostik GreenForce adhesive.

European Oak Flooring Installation in Sawmill Lakes

Following one of our Free consultation and estimate meetings, these homeowners selected 9 1/2″ wide engineered hardwood European Oak – Baron, from the Grande Savoy collection by DuChateau –  for their home in the Sawmill Lakes community of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

After our crew removed the existing flooring, we leveled the concrete slab subfloor with Bostik SL-150 self-leveling underlayment. A level subfloor is important for a quality wood flooring installation! Leveling protects the wood flooring from flexing damage after installation.

Then we installed the 9 1/2″ wide European Oak flooring, using quality Bostik GreenForce adhesive. The flooring straps we use for the wide plank installations can be seen in some of the photos.

Installing Winter Oak plank flooring in Nocatee

Some Dan’s Floor Store flooring projects cover large areas of flooring in a home or business. Others may focus on one or two rooms, or a staircase or more. These homeowners, live in the Coastal Oaks community of Nocatee. They contracted Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to replace the old carpeting in the second floor of their home with Oak wood flooring.

Our clients chose 7″ wide engineered Winter Oak plank flooring from the Vintage collection by Mohawk for this home improvement.

First we removed 1,600 square feet of old carpeting. In one of the photos, looking over the banister, you can see the Oak plank flooring on the first floor. The new Oak flooring will continue that look on the second floor.

Next we leveled the second floor plywood subfloor to prepare it for the Oak plank flooring installation, by sanding and hand scraping any high spots.

Our crew started installing the Winter Oak plank flooring from the top of the stairs, running the planks front to back like downstairs. We used flooring straps to hold the wide planks in place during installation.

The banister was much higher than the flooring. So, we milled down custom trim pieces to frame the base of the banister. Our crew also made custom trim for the bathroom doorways.

Such a beautiful area! Lots of wildlife! We saw a gator and two red tail hawks while we were there. Here are some photos from the back yard of the home.

Install, Sand and Finish Red Oak Flooring – Mandarin

Riverside Mandarin - client's homeClients whose home was damaged by Hurricane Irma (which came through Jacksonville, Florida in September 2017), called Dan’s Floor Store 904.887.8303 to help restore their home.

This project started with us leveling the concrete slab subfloor (as we do for all wood flooring installation jobs). Our clients selected a 3″ wide, unfinished, engineered Red Oak flooring by Maxwell. This wood flooring product is made in the USA, and will harmonize with the existing 3″ wide Red Oak flooring on the upper floor. (Which our crew will sand and stain in a few weeks, to match the color wood flooring selected for the first floor wood.) We installed the Red Oak flooring using Bostik Pro Cure adhesive. To prepare the fireplace in the center of the room for the new wood flooring, our crew undercut the bottom edge with a jamb saw equipped with a diamond blade. We measured and cut each board to fit the bumpy contour of the central fireplace with a jig saw.

After completing the flooring installation, our crew began sanding the new flooring. Our client’s selection of an engineered wood flooring was a benefit to the time frame required for this project. This is because engineered wood does not require acclimation time after installation; we can begin sanding the flooring to prepare for staining and finishing immediately.

Next we “popped the grain” of the wood with water, to achieve a deep, beautiful color stain. Our crew applied Bona Jacobean stain.

We finished this Red Oak flooring with durable Pallmann products – 1 coat of Pallmann Clear Sealer, and 2 coats of Pallmann Power finish – satin.

Our customers told us that they were overjoyed to see their beautiful Red Oak floors. And Dan’s Floor Store always enjoys having happy clients!
